tion of two of the most progressive operations in the industry brings you an opportunity to source some of the most sought after genetics within the breed.

The heavy influence of some of the most proven and freshest sires represented in this catalogue takes out any guess work and the added bonus is the staggering amount of donor females on the bottom sides of their pedigrees. Both programs focus primarily on quality and not quantity and as you study the paper work on these bulls, you will quickly see the cow power on their bottom sides.

The bulls are raised and developed with longevity and functionality at the fore front. Both programs have a similar vision of the ideal beef bull and the 16 candidates up for offer fit their mold to a tee. Millington bulls are developed on pail fed bull developer ration and self feed grass/alflalfa hay.

Willerton Bulls are pail fed stage one. Then, bulls are fed a stage two bull developer ration from Masterfeeds until approximately January 1. Then they are pail fed oat chop until delivery along with self feed grass/alfalfa hay.

HERD HEALTH

Millington Ranch • For our herd health and semen testing needs we deal with Dr. Laurie Zemlak based out of Peak.

At birth the bulls receive Inforce 3, Vitamin AD, Dysotel (Vit E and selenium).

GUARANTEE

• All animals will carry the standard breeding guarantee as specified by the Canadian Simmental Association (CSA). At no time shall the sellers liability exceed the purchase price of the animal.

• This does not cover death, injury, sickness or mismanagement.

We have always admired the style and power of Killswitch calves, and how they are still desirable after a long time. So I guess it’s fitting that Lights Out is the last natural calf off the late 55D to ever sell. An end of February calf that doesn’t give anything up to the older bulls in the pen. A black WTL bull with performance to spare. This easy doing, soggy large framed boy is a commercial man’s dream. London moves out well and is very correct in his make up. Don’t let his birthweight scare you, his mom had him with ease and he was up and sucking in under 30 minutes. All Aboard was a very under utilized bull in Canada before he was unavailable here. His most notable son is Ws Epic E152, he’s known throughout the breed for his calving ease but still adding pounds. This dark red, thick haired 2 year old was purposely held back for this sale. He was the first bull everyone gravitated to in the pen last year and tried to buy.

Welcome Everyone to the inaugural Millington & Willerton bull sale!

We are thrilled to be able to offer our bulls to the open market. This is an event we have been working towards since we first entered into the registered cattle business back in the fall of 2015. We would first like to thank all of our customers and friends that have supported our program in the past, either by purchasing bulls private treaty or females from consignment sales.

As I sit down to type this out, we have just made it through a week of record cold temperatures across Western Canada and these are days that make you really wonder why we are in this industry. However, we were fortunate to have had a really nice long fall which saved a pile of feed for many producers across Western Canada. We are also seeing strong prices

within the commercial cattle sales, so overall, things are looking positive in the industry.

For those of you who may not know us, Millington Ranch runs around 30 purebred Simmental cows. We have a large focus on creating cattle that we consider to be the right type for our environment. This means we are raising cattle that have above average gain, are easy fleshing as well as have a sound structure which will help enhance the longevity of the cowherd. We utilize embryo transplant and artificial insemination for a large percentage of our breeding decisions from year to year.

Here at Millington Ranch, our bulls are designed to last, with them getting 12 lbs of bull ration pail fed daily and free choice grass alfalfa hay. After they are weaned in late August, our bulls go out on a 4 acre grass paddock where they get lots of exercise and they stay there until mid October,

when they are brought into the bullpen for the winter.

Millington Ranch is located 4.5 miles North of Duval Sk on highway 20. Our bulls are available for viewing anytime, and we are happy to show you the bulls and the cows behind them when you come visit. We will be having a open house on the weekend of Feb 24-25 and we hope to see you there.

Blackout is a calf we have been excited for since the day we bought Beth Dutton 255J. With him being her first calf and her natural calf he came with big expectations and blew them out of the water. He has that herd bull look and a large presence when he is out in the pen. You won’t find a longer bull out there with a hip as square and stout as his. Add that to the fact that he is off a first calf heifer, came with 84lb BW and had our heaviest weaning weight you can see why we are so high on this bull. His EPD profile is second to none, so if your looking at genotype or phenotype he should be at the top of your list. He is going to make good prodigies whether you use him to create more bulls and females for breeding stock or are just trying to raise high gaining, long bodied steers.

This guy has looked the part right all year, is super deep ribbed and soft made, while still carrying the stoutness and style that Dynasty throws in his calves. It is rare to have a bull this soft while still being this clean in his front end. He stands on a correct set of legs with a nice big foot under him. 15L is the only bull out of a set of 6 flushmates born this year out of our “Moon” donor cow. Length has been mentioned in most of the footnotes so far and 15L fits right in the same category. LONG, big footed with a correct skeletal structure. This is a very maternal mating with Red Deputy throwing picture perfect udders and Moon is a cow we are building our program around. This mating has worked real well for us so far. This fall we sold two full sibling females in the Associate to Ashworth Farm and Ranch and High Bluff Stock Farms. 3 falls ago we had a full brother in our show string that we sold out of the stall to Justin Joorisity of Wadella Ranch. 20L is the youngest and the fanciest bull in the pen. He has a “look at me” attitude to go along with the beauty black blaze. Raised by a first calf heifer out of our Moon donor and out of our walking bull Distinct, this guy has the genetics to back him. Very free when he is out on the move, this a very complete bull with real cool look and make up. He does have a tiny white sock on his back foot but if your trying to add some color to your herd this guy should get the job done. Polled test pending.
