Excellent EPD bull, in the top 1-2% of the breed, across the board. His birth EPDs are guaranteed to make you sleep better during calving season. His mother has a perfect udder, with the right shape and sized teats, along with being a smaller framed female who breeds back immediately, making him a sire that will yield highly reproductive, feed efficient progeny. This is a bull you don’t want to miss out on. Consigned by Seward Land & Cattle - JD Seward, 119 N Seip Rd, Rockville, IN 47872, 765-592-2648.

An excellent F803 son that goes back to our maternal sib to Genesis the C60 cow, top 20% CE with top growth EPD’s 2% WW and 4% YW, out of an Acclaim daughter with a quality udder that has weaned another good bull prospect this year. Top maternal numbers 4% MM, 1% MG, 3% MCE, 26% and 33% TEAT and UDDER scores. Top carcass as well, 2% MARB, 4% CHB. I feel like you have to appreciate the level of accuracy that go along with those numbers as well. Generations of ultrasound and DNA testing data have helped to validate our progress in herd improvement. I believe his numbers and accuracy are high enough to make the CHB sire list next April. Calabar has given us too many nice females to count, and this one is a carbon copy of the rest. Moderate size, super correct, big hipped cattle that can really get out and move. This young cow out of Perfecto has been a great breeding piece for us. Long fronted, big bodied and sound. She has a perfect udder and has weaned off two of our very best calves the last two years. Tenley showed a heifer out of this cow this past summer that was very successful in the showring. The bottom side of her pedigree goes back to Copper and some of the super nice Lowderman bred females from the last several years. To top it off she is bred to our Sherman son from Churchill Cattle Company. Sherman needs no introduction to Hereford breeders. As I sat down to write this footnote, there are a million thoughts going through my head. Decisions made after hours of searching and researching, positive results, disappointments and hundreds if not thousands of hours work. Remembering when we took Tried N True to do the carcass ultrasound as we ran him out of the chute back on to the trailer, I turned to Phil Ellis and somewhat jokingly said “take a good look right there is the next big thing”. He certainly has been for us. With the purchase of our first bred heifer 856C over 30+ years ago to the purchase of Z058 and an interest in CEO, the C60 female in the Loewen dispersal and mating her to Tested X651, all road markers along the way. When I nominated Tried N True for the NRSP (National Reference Sire Program) ,I had hoped for positive results but the results were far more than I had anticipated. With 31% of his sire group going Prime as well as the reduction in the DMI (DRY MATTER INTAKE) putting his DMI EPD in the top 17%. His MARB EPD is at 1.01 with ACC. of .58. Search the AHA database and compare. Studying his pedigree we felt like there is load of maternal power stacked in those generations along with the carcass added value. The sires U208, X51, Proficient and the females R415, B42, W484 all were donors, and for us the C60, F807 and 25W she was just a gorgeous beef cow. With that thought in mind, we went through the process working with INTERGLOBE and STGenetics to have a batch of sexed female semen produced, and it’s through this HOA sale we wanted make that available as well as some conventional. It is stored at INTERGLOBE in Pontiac, Illinois. Purchaser responsible for shipping. Consigned by Warfel Family Farm - Charles Warfel, 13301 N 320th St, Casey IL 62420-3003, 217-549-8784.
