BILDing Hope WINTER 2018 LOCATION Eugene, OR The OregonBILDS program is a design/build studio that offers students the opportunity to design a lowincome single family home and to follow it through to final construction documents and permitting. Although the studio ends up designing only one home, each student initially presents their own idea both as individuals and groups. This concept aimed to lower the footprint of the building so as to allow greater room in the backyard and a possible future ADU should the family need to expand. It focused on creating warm, comfortable spaces for now and on longevity and adaptability for the long term.

SWISS PAVILION AT THE VENICE BIENNALE FALL 2017 LOCATION Venice, Italy The Venice Biennale attracts thousands of tourists each year to view its outstanding art and architecture. At the Giardini venue stands dozens of different National pavilions, housing the art contributed for that year̢۪s show by that country. The Swiss pavilion aims to capture the daring cut aways and cantilevers of Swiss architecture while also paying attention to careful details and delicate plays of light. It stands as a sculptural experience, a further iteration of the art housed within.

DEXTER ROWING CENTER SPRING 2017 LOCATION Lowell, OR The University of Oregon club rowing team practices on Dexter Lake in the early morning several times a week and holds a certain notoriety for their skill, but are in desperate need of a new facility. Their new rowing center is a 24,000 square foot facility for the team to train, host events, and store their boats in. It aims at sustainability with careful daylight angles and rain gardens to filter the water from the uphill parking lot before it drains into the lake. Focused in a three bay pattern, it facilitates the needs of both the athletes and the community and encourages building relationships between the two.

WEEKEND VILLA SPRING 2016 LOCATION Columba River Gorge This small vacation home aims to reconnect the family to both nature and each other. Located along a bank, the home is built into the hillside with a large glass Southern facade for solar exposure. It creates a delicate contrast between the enclosed hillside and the open bank side of the home that allows for a cozy home that feels as if it melts out and becomes apart of the surrounding environment. The many different porch levels allow for different outdoor activity zones while also allowing views to one another. The home allows many different spaces for each family member to inhabit while also being near to one another and able to interact.
