Be sure to check out “Caught on Cameraâ€? at the end of this issue — a majority of the photos were submitted by our Facebook fans. Since all of the Cass County high schools scheduled that our fans will help us out — we would LOVE to see some of your smiling faces posted on our wall! That’s what the Cass County Communication Network is all about, after all — making it easy for Cass County residents to know and share what’s going on in our community. This month, it hit me that it’s been ten years since I graduated from college and returned to Logansport. If anyone had asked me a decade ago what I’d be doing, it certainly wouldn’t have been sharing news we posted online via social networking sites and pushing out weather alerts through text messages! Ten years ago, I didn’t EVENHAVEACELLPHONEANDNOW)mMĂšNDINGMYSELFTELLINGPEOPLE that a ban on texting/talking while driving is going into effect July 1. As we approach the one year anniversary of our launch of the Cass County Communication Network, I can honestly say — I can’t wait to see what the next ten years will be bring.

Welcome, Buffalo Wild Wings!

Logansport Cass County Economic Development Foundation representatives held a ceremonia groundbreaking on Monday, May 2 for last tenant at Cass County Commons. Buffalo Wild Wings is expected to open in Logansport by late July or early August. BY MICHELLE LAIRD DIALS

Developers confirmed what they described as “the worst-kept secret in Logansport earlier this month: Buffalo Wild Wings will open in Logansport this summer. City officials joined developer Joe Farr for a ceremonial groundbreaking at Cass County Commons on May 2 -- even though construction on the building has already been completed. Farr said that his company has been talking with Buffalo Wild Wings for two years but has been in serious negotiations since December. The tenant’s lease became final on April 30, so he felt it was time to officially make the announcement to the public. Farr said the franchisee owns about 25 locations and described them as a “large, solid operator. The 18,600 square foot Cass County Commons shopping center, which opened earlier this year, is now 100 percent leased. The property is adjacent to the new Walmart and includes Maurices, Arnold’s

Jewelry and Gifts, Petsense and Great Clips. Farr says he has three more national tenants who have expressed interest in the location. “I need more space, Farr told the crowd of city council members and local business people who gathered for this morning’s groundbreaking. “It’s a nice problem to have. Chamber of Commerce president Brian Shafer, Councilman Scott Kraud and Mayor Mike Fincher were among those who joined Farr to dig into the soil to the west of the building, which will become a fenced area with outdoor seating for the restaurant. Farr said the mayor, city council and LEDF have been instrumental in helping to move the project forward. “They really do want development and do put their feet forward, Farr said. “They’ve all really put their game faces on and helped in the last couple of months.

In memoriam Memorial Day services offer salute to those who served One of the most memorable things we did in 2010 was attending Cass County’s Memorial Day remembrance ceremonies, which featured observances at the Cass County Government Building, the Logansport City Building and the 225-acre Mount Hope Cemetery. The National Junior Honor Society from Lincoln Middle School will be helping with the process of getting the cemetery ready for the Memorial Day holiday again this year. Civil War veterans are buried in the GAR or “Grand Army of the Republic” section and graves are donated to any veterans to be buried in Veteran’s Circle.
