ISSUE 42 | JULY 2017 Dear Friends of Cassata Catholic High School, This Annual Report is a testament to the spirit and pride, determination and hard work, and unwavering commitment to excellence of our faculty, staff, students, and friends. Together we are the Cassata family, and together we fulfill the mission of our school. We inspire students to explore their academic potential, lead with confidence, and help those in need. Because of each of you, our efforts were successful. Ninety-three percent of our graduates have gone on to post-secondary education, with one hundred percent of the May graduates going to college! We know that through faith and perseverance we will continue to achieve success through education. Our mission remains the same, and we will continue to achieve those ideals set forth by Srs. Bonaventure and Fulbright so many years ago. I extend my sincere appreciation for the gifts of your prayers, talents, time, and contributions to strengthen Cassata’s ability to serve our students and to help develop educated young people of integrity and purpose. Cassata Catholic High School will have a profound impact on the life and growth of our students. Your gifts and support make this happen! OUR MISSION Cassata is a coeducational Catholic high school with a nurturing staff that provides a rigorous curriculum for students who desire a unique, customized environment that prepares them for college and their chosen career path. Cassata’s open enrollment, self paced learning, and flexible schedule enable students of all backgrounds to raise their educational level, complete their secondary education, and become healthy, independent, productive citizens.

CCHS and TCC
Cassata Catholic students earned 135 college credit hours through Tarrant County College during the 2016-2017 school year! Students studied British Literature, English Composition, College Algebra, United States History, American Sign Language, Music Appreciation, and many other courses at the beautiful Trinity River Campus in downtown Fort Worth. Thanks to the Morris Foundation Scholarship at TCC, students were able to pursue their dreams of earning college credit while still in high school.

Cashan
"Before Cassata, I never knew college was an option."
Cashan December 2016 salutatorian Prior to Cassata, Cashan struggled with staying out of trouble. Influenced by his surroundings, he was in and out of detention centers and had a bad reputation at school. His probation officer offered Cassata as an option for Cashan to get back on track. With smaller classrooms, more one-on-one time with teachers, unconditional support, and a fresh start, Cashan not only flourished, but graduated within 8 months as December 2016's Salutatorian. He is the first in his family to graduate from high school and is now enrolled at Tarrant County College!

TCU'S CASSATA CHALLENGEÂ
STUDENTS SPEND DAY WITH FITNESS IN MIND! All Cassata students were thrilled to participate in the Cassata Challenge on October 26, an event hosted by the TCU College of Nursing. As part of the Challenge, nursing students played soccer, basketball and other games with CCHS students while also teaching them about fitness and nutrition. The day was informative and fun, and we want to thank the TCU College of Nursing Students; Dr. Howe; and Nurse Nancy Eder for facilitating this special day.

Thanks to a generous gift from the Amon G. Carter Foundation, Cassata has created the Idea Factory. This space allows students to work, learn, create, and collaborate with the benefit of updated technology in an inspiring, comfortable atmosphere. The Idea Factory is also perfect for teaching and holding volunteer meetings and seminars, giving it great utility and functionality. Thank you Amon G. Carter Foundation!

"Cassata allowed me to work to my full potential "
Andrew May 2017 graduate At his previous school, Andrew had missed one week of school and struggled to catch up with his work. The inflexibility of the school's curriculum didn't fit with his learning style and he found himself falling more and more behind. After he transferred to Cassata, he was able to not only catch up in his studies, but found himself able to move at a faster pace than his prior classmates due to Cassata's flexible and self paced system. Andrew is now expected to graduate in May and has been accepted into Texas Tech with a $16,000 scholarship and to UTA with a $20,000 scholarship. He plans to graduate from Tech with a computer science degree.
Strategic Planning
This year CCHS worked with Advancement Partners, Inc. to craft a strategic plan that will guide our decisions until 2022. A big thank you to all of you who participated in the focus groups and who served on the committee. Copies of the strategic plan are available from the office and can be found in every classroom at CCHS. We are committed to achieving even greater success over the next five years!
International Cassata CCHS spent a very international year with students from the following countries. This was exciting for our students! Â Modern Language classes were also expanded to include French, German, Greek, Russian and Spanish!!
