1970s Richard Beercheck ’71, Cleveland, OH, was named senior editor of Lubes’n’Greases magazine on July 1, 2011.

James Neville ’75, G’78, Katy, TX, was named commerce and marketing track leader for the Official United States Convention of the Second Life Community on July 1, 2011.

1980s

Wingkay Kenneth Leung ’74, MS’76, MBA’82, Andover MA, was elected to the presidency of the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association of New England, a non-profit organization in Boston’s Chinatown. He and his wife, Winnie, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last year. They have three grown children, Calvin, Jonathan and Kasey.

Albin J. Gasiewski III, ’83, Boulder, CO, is professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering and director of NOAA-CU Center for Environmental Technology University of Colorado at Boulder. He and his wife, Rachel, have twin boys Alexander and Mateja.

2000s

Paul Buchheit BS/MS ’98

Cynthia K. (Pierce) Overstreet ’08, Chandler, AZ, was married September 3, 2011. The couple met at freshman orientation at Case Western Reserve University and both graduated from Case with bachelor’s degrees in biomedical engineering in May 2008. They are both currently working toward Ph.D.’s in biomedical engineering at Arizona State University.

a 2011 winner of The Economist’s Innovation Awards in the category of Computing and Telecommunication. The award recognizes his significant contributions to Internet communication and commerce. Buchheit is best known as the creator and lead developer of Gmail, a free web-based email service provided by Google, Inc. He also created the prototype that developed into Google’s AdSense advertising platform. Prior to joining Google in 1999 as its 23rd employee, Buchheit worked as an engineer at Intel, Sun Microsystems and Microsoft. In 2007, he left Google and founded FriendFeed, which was acquired by Facebook in 2009. In 2010, Buchheit left Facebook to become a partner at the venture capital firm Y Combinator, which is helping to produce the next generation of Google-scale companies such as Air BNB and Dropbox.
