PROGRAM NOTE
I remember watching Mork and Mindy with my brother in the late 70s, rolling on the floor laughing. August 11, 2014 marked the untimely death of another complex soul whose manic genius served as a counterbalance to private desperation and sadness. Rounds is a short tribute to Robin Williams, at turns impish, florid, rhapsodic and brooding. It was written for and is dedicated to Marya Martin.
Rounds for Robin was premiered at the Bridgehampton Chamber Music Festival on August 9, 2015 by Marya Martin, flute and Joyce Yang, piano.
