Percussion Concerto was written for Evelyn Glennie and commissioned by Orange County’s Pacific Symphony and Utah Symphony & Opera.
It was premiered by Orange County’s Pacific Symphony with Carl St.Clair on April 6 and 7, 2006, and by the Utah Symphony with Music Director Keith Lockhart conducting on April 13, 14 and 15, 2006.

* The solo instruments should be reinforced and monitored live using high-quality microphones and speakers appropriate to the instruments. A good reverb unit should be used for the marimba, vibraphone, chimes, and crotales (when bowed). This equipment should also be used during rehearsals. The sound reinforcement is needed to increase the presence of the percussion instruments amidst orchestral textures which can diminish their upper partials (the hall’s acoustic properties are not relevant).
