In our autumn issue we feature Gavaska Loney for our staff Q & A.
Gavaska joined the Protected team in February 2020, bringing a wealth of installation management experience. A six-foot-six lad from North London, ‘Gav’ leads UK operations for Protected.
I am the UK Operations Manager for Protect my install. I would describe my role as one of the cogs that helps provide a smooth operation of the platform. Helping to implement the right processes and practices across the business.
What has surprised you about the BiKBBI since joining?
I was surprised how passionate the Institute is about making a difference within the industry. It genuinely looks out for the best interest of installers and retailers alike.
What do you like the most about the industry?
Being able to meet so many different people over the years. Also being able to learn and equally influence to collectively give the best possible service to the end users.
And the least?
Professionals not knowing how important they are to the industry and not respecting their brand.

On the lighter side, who or what makes you laugh? Recently, my five-year-old son Chase makes me laugh every day. He is a little comedian in the making.

Will Smith, Micky Flanagan and Dwayne Johnson.
Name 3 you’d least like to invite?
Dennis Rodman, Pete Doherty and Peter Andre Favourite sport and team or sports person? Football and Arsenal is my favourite team. Name a record that would get you dancing and one to help you chill out? Bob Marley – One Love would get me dancing and Damien Rice – Delicate would help me chill out. What would you most like to hear said about you? That I am humble. And what would be the worst? That I am arrogant. Name your first car? Volkswagen Golf GTi 16V Best 3 movies?

Party trick?
I can boil water in a plastic container.
What’s been the best day of your life (keep it clean!)?
When I became a dad for the first time.
Finally, what’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?

My dad once told me, never use excuses to cover mistake or incapacity. If you get it
wrong, own up!
