CASA of Los Angeles' 7th Annual Evening to Foster Dreams gala on April 24, 2019 was a special evening as we honored CASA/LA Board Chair and Philanthropist Lou Lucido, Dr. Wendy Smith and Barry Meyer, advocates of youth in foster care and Participant Media's documentary film Foster, from Oscar-winning filmmakers Deborah Oppenheimer and Mark Jonathan Harris. Attended by 710 guests, the gala raised over $1 million! This support will help us serve more children with intensive one-on-one advocacy. We kicked off the evening with host Dax Shepard who opened up the night with his wit and humor followed by a special musical performance by NBC4's The Voice contestant Sharane Calister, who is a former foster youth, as well as spoken word performed by CASA/LA's Board Member and former foster youth Jonha Rivers.
