Editorial

Dear Readers,

I’m please to present the June 2023 issue of the Air Quality and Climate Change Journal. As Guest Editor for this Special Modelling Edition of the journal I am excited to bring to you a collection of papers that showcase some of the great work our members are doing in the modelling space.

Specifically, this issue revisits the history of modelling in Australia and considers current and future focal points in air quality modelling. One such application is the application of WRF-Chem and WRF-CMAQ to assess regional scale air quality events. The collection also examines modelled scenarios for the assessment of proposed non-road diesel engine management strategies and greenhouse gas emissions, fuel use and energy consumption for road transport in Australia out to 2050. I’d like to personally thank the authors to this edition of the journal for your wonderful contributions.

In March 2023 we kicked off with the Health and Indoor Air Special Edition of the Journal Guest Edited by Surekha Shridar the first of six curated issues aimed at reinvigorating the Air Quality and Climate Change Journal. The Modelling Special edition is the second issue with several key themes still to be covered by a great line up of Guest Editors over the next four editions.

Guest editors and themes for the next four special editions are as follows:

• Exposure Science Edition (September 2023), Guest Editor Dr Len Turczynowicz

• Greenhouse and Carbon Management Edition (December 2023), Guest Editor Damon Rodis

• Analytics of Data Edition (March 2024), Guest Editor Grame Starke

• Measurement Edition (June 2024), Guest Editor Mathew Pickett

I encourage both CASANZ members and non-members to show their support for the upcoming special editions and submit their contributions. Contributions can include technical articles, short papers research summaries and reviews addressing air quality and climate change themes and challenges. For contributions to the journal please get in touch with the relevant Guest Editor or admin@casanz.org.au we would love to hear from you.

Happy Reading, Regards, Kristen Clarke
