Nicholas McGegan conductor, is considered one of the ﬁnest baroque conductors of his generation and serves as music director of Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra and Chorale and he is also Principal Guest Conductor of the Pasadena Symphony.

Micah McClaurin (‘16) piano, winner of the 2016 Gilmore Young Artist Award, is one of the outstanding pianists of his generation.

Frank Huang (‘98, ’99) violin, serves as concertmaster of the New York Philharmonic and will be a Visiting Guest Artist in our violin studio this summer.

Cynthia Phelps (’79, ‘83) viola, is the New York Philharmonic’s Principal Viola, and serves on the Academy faculty. She was named a recipient of the Music Academy’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001.

Academy alumni are members of major symphony orchestras, chamber orchestras, ensembles, opera companies, and university and conservatory faculties throughout the world. Many enjoy careers as prominent solo artists. The Academy recently completed a four-year partnership with the New York Philharmonic that resulted in unprecedented training and performance opportunities for Academy fellows, as well as Summer Festival residencies for Philharmonic musicians. �� Sigrid Toye’s volunteer activities include mentoring the ‘Breakwater Flag Project’, an array of 27 flags representing Santa Barbara’s major non-profits, a community program co-sponsored by the Santa Barbara Yacht Club and the Waterfront Department. She is currently on the board of directors of the Maritime Museum and participates in Yacht Club activities. Sigrid is a long time practitioner of educational/behavior therapy and holds a Ph.D in clinical psychology.
