The Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival, themed “Educate. Inspire. Act.” commemorates the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Santa Barbara oil spill and celebrates the activism that arose from that disaster. This year’s festival aims to inspire a new generation of activists and empower the community to take action on the climate emergency. The free, two-day festival will take place at Alameda Park Saturday, April 27th, 11am to 8pm and Sunday, April 28th, 11am-6pm with family programming and activities for all ages, sustainable, local foods, a beer and wine garden, and over 200 eco-conscious exhibitors. American Dance & Music, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit professional dance organization, is devoted to fostering dance as an art form in Santa Barbara. Formed in 2005 as Ballet Santa Barbara and incorporated as American Dance and Music, Inc. in 2006, they gave their first performance at the Marjorie Luke Theater in Santa Barbara in March of 2006. In 2017, AD&M opened The Dance Hub, providing expanded offerings for adults, youth, and children in Ballet and Modern Dance, Nia and Pilates, Hula, Belly Dance, Polynesian Dance, Flamenco, and more. WHEN: Friday, April 19, 8 PM – Midnight WHERE: State St. Underpass Presented by The Arts Fund, local artists will illuminate the State St. Underpass with a light art exhibit. Don’t miss this exciting debut of a new art experience downtown. Enjoy dinner at a downtown restaurant and then ride the electric shuttle for free to the Underpass for light installations and music. DJ Set by Party Proper Productions.

WHEN: Saturday, April 20, 12 PM – 10 PM WHERE: 400-500 Blocks Enjoy music, art activities and food from downtown restaurants under the canopy of trees on State Street, where a pedestrian promenade will be created for the day. Families will enjoy painting large coloring book walls, chalk drawing, dance classes, basketball, and a petting zoo. The Arts Fund presents interactive light art installations in the evening hours. Enjoy the Paint and Sip wine garden. Surprises await.
