American Idol sensation Michael Lynche rose to fame with his debut in the ninth season of the show, wowing audiences with his soulful voice and undeniable charisma. After that breakthrough, Lynche made a name for himself, touring the nation as an opener for acts such as Boyz II Michael Lynche Men, Lalah Hathaway, Faith Evans, and Lyfe Jennings, and even took his show overseas to headline a tour of the Mediterranean. He has been featured numerous times on Maestro Jeff Tyzik’s hit show Let’s Dance! and has collaborated with Tyzik to create a sensational soul revue entitled R&B Legends.

Award-winning actor Chestor Gregory, born in Gary, Indiana, took early inspiration from hometown hero Michael Jackson, following him into the musical world through Broadway. Performing in musicals such as Jesus Christ Superstar (Jesus), The Jackie Wilson Chester Gregory Story (Jackie Wilson), Hairspray (Seaweed), Tarzan (Turk), and Cry Baby (Dupree), Gregory made waves in the theatrical wold. His breakthrough performance came in 2009 with his performance as Jimmy Early in the national tour of Dreamgirls, for which he recieved much critical acclaim. Currently, Gregory records original work under his artist name, CHESS.

New York City based vocalist and songwriter Shayna Steele made a name for herself working with stars such as David Cook and Moby in the early 2000s. Soon appearing alongside greats such as Bette Midler, Natasha Bedingﬁeld, John Legend, Queen Latifah, Shayna Steele Dolly Parton, and more, she climbed the musical ladder, releasing her own original songs. She has also lent her voice to soundtracks for shows and movies such as The Backup Plan, The Bourne Legacy (2012), Sex and the City 2, NBC’s Smash, and many more. Photo by Shervin Lainez

And so it has taken me all of sixty years to understand that water is the ﬁnest drink, and bread the most delicious food, and that art is worthless unless it plants a measure of splendor in people’s hearts.

If only someone would whisper poems along the insides of my arms, a hymn sung by fingertips across my belly, all the way to the peak of each breast, my body’s rafters reverberating. Then, a suspenseful little story unfolding up and down my thighs, finally, a cacophony, both lyrical and guttural: let my little cave echo, trill, open like a throat to answer. O, fill my body— this clumsy, mute organ—with song.
