SPECIAL EVENTS

Hay Rides at Hof fman Park Experience a fun evening enjoying two great fall activities - a hayride and campfire under the stars. The duration of the event will be 75 minutes in total (a 45-minute hayride and about 30 minutes for gathering around a campfire making s’mores with family and friends). Please register for the date and time of your choice. If there is inclement weather on the day of your scheduled time, the Park District will contact you.

Hayrides make the perfect field trip or group outing for girl scouts, boy scouts, schools, church groups, neighborhood, or any group/organization looking for an affordable fun fall activity. Howl - o - Ween Dog Parade This event is for our furry 4-legged friends but is fun for the entire family! Dogs should be dressed in costume and will receive a doggy treat bag. The event begins at 5:30 pm with the line up starting at 5:15 pm. Dogs must be leashed to participate in the event.

Jaycee Park Holiday Tree Decorating

Kick off the holiday season and enjoy holiday trees decorated by friends, neighbors, and groups from all over the community!

Interested in decorating a tree?

Spread holiday cheer and register your group, club, troop, neighborhood, or family and decorate a tree at Jaycee Park.

One tree will be available for each registered group. Each group is responsible for their own decorations. Decorated trees will stay up for approximately four weeks. Pre-registration is required. For more information contact Katie Tarosas 847.639.6100 x 110.

Tree decorating will begin Saturday, December 2. Registered participants will receive more information after registration.

DRIVE THRU VISIT WITH SANTA Santa is coming to Cary and wants to see you…in your car! Santa will have a 2-3 minute visit with each car, giving children the opportunity to share their wish list and receive a goodie bag for being on the nice list.

Santa will also pose next to the car for a picture that will be shared with you from the park district after the event. Festive outfits, hats and car decorations are welcome to help get into the holiday spirit!

Letters to Santa Write a letter to Santa and await his reply! Mail or drop your letter off in Santa’s red mailbox in the lobby at the Community Center.

Santa is very busy this time of year! To help him out, all letters must include the child’s name, age, address, plus a self-addressed stamped envelope so Santa can write your child back. Your child’s original letter will not be returned.

Ages 11 & under with parent (children under 1 are free) “All Aboard!” Families take a train to Santa’s Workshop where Santa will be waiting to hear your wish lists. A lunch buffet is served at Santa’s request. After the meal, enjoy a visit with Santa. Don’t forget your camera to capture the memories. Then, board the train back to Cary. Fee includes activities, meal, and train tickets. Registration deadline is November 1.

The morning will be filled with a yummy breakfast, a festive hot cocoa bar, cookie decorating, and an ornament craft. Children 2 years and under are free. To qualify for resident rates an individual must reside within the boundaries of the Cary Park District. Residents support the Park District through tax dollars. While boundaries of other taxing bodies in the community are different, you may confirm whether you are a Cary Park District resident by looking at your tax bill under the taxing bodies you support.

Oasis Party Room

Rent the Oasis for your summer gathering. The Oasis holds up to 40 people. It also includes a refrigerator with freezer, sink, microwave, and counter space to prepare for your gathering. Tables and chairs are included and can be set up to your specifications. Swimming is an additional fee. R/NR Fee: $50/$75 per hour

Weekend Permanent Tee Times for 2024

Make Foxford Hills Golf Club your home for the 2024 golf season. Registration to reserve your time begins November 30.

Current permanent tee time holders will have the opportunity to renew their times from the previous year until February 28.

Our permanent tee time program runs 22 weeks on Saturday and Sunday mornings from 6:00 - 8:30 am. Permanent tee times begin the weekend of April 13 and 14 and end the weekend of September 7 and 8.

Tee times may be made thirty (30) days in advance with a major credit card. MasterCard, Visa, Discover, and American Express are accepted.

Dress Code

Attire must be in keeping with the standards of the sport. Attire not permitted includes, but is not limited to, bathing suits, cutoffs, and sandals. Foxford Hills Golf Club is a non-metal or soft spike facility.

Pace of Play

Players are to maintain the pace of play guidelines established by the Club. The average pace of play at Foxford Hills Golf Club is 4 hours 30 minutes.

Parties & “After 7”

For parties and formal functions, Foxford Hills Golf Club offers a club atmosphere that is perfect for groups of up to 75 guests. Whether you select buffet style, family style, or a custom package, our staff will do all the work so you can enjoy your day. Possible events include rehearsal dinners, showers, breakfasts, luncheons, casual dinners, business meetings, corporate events, and golf outings.

Host your next event at the Cary Park District

Picnic Shelter, Bandshell, and Athletic Field Rentals

Cary Park District facilities and picnic shelters are available to rent for bridal and baby showers, holiday, birthday and anniversary parties, reunions, luncheons, seminars, trainings, and business meetings. They are also perfect for summer picnics and outings.

Alcohol may be served with a permit and an additional fee.

Community Center

Jaycee Park Picnic Shelter R/NR Fee = $50 - $100 per rental The shelter is available to rent from 9:00 am to dusk between the first weekend in May and the end of September. The shelter contains picnic tables and garbage cans. Electricity is available upon request. Washroom facilities are also available.

The Community Center offers eight rooms that can accommodate smallto-medium-sized groups. A warm and welcoming environment along with friendly staff set the stage for any event. Kaper Park Picnic Shelter R/NR Fee = $100 - $200 per rental This shelter is available to rent Monday - Friday, 9:00 am to dusk and Saturday and Sunday, 9 am 12:00 pm and 4:00 - 8:00 pm. It contains 8 picnic tables and garbage cans. Electricity is available upon request. Restrooms are available adjacent to the shelter.

Hickory Room $10 - $40/hour The Hickory Room can accommodate up to 30 guests. This room features a tile floor, outdoor views, and is adjacent to a restroom.

Lions Park Picnic Shelters R/NR Fee = $50 - $200 per rental Three shelters are available to rent from 9:00 am to dusk between the first weekend in May and the end of September. Each shelter has a solid roof, picnic tables, garbage cans, and electricity. Washroom facilities are located within the park.

Maple & Birch Rooms $10 - $40/hour These two rooms can accommodate up to 40 guests each. The Maple Room is carpeted and the Birch Room has a tile floor.

Security deposits are applied to all shelter rentals. Basic shelter ($100), shelter with alcohol ($225), multiple shelters with alcohol and other requests ($350).

Lions Park Rotary Bandshell R/NR Fee = $300 - $450 per rental The bandshell has a covered stage with electrical hookup capability that is available upon request.

Lawn seating is available on the adjacent hill.

Washroom facilities are available within the park.

The security deposit listed above also applies to the bandshell rental.

Athletic Fields and Courts R/NR Fee = $35/$75 per hour Soccer fields and baseball/softball fields are located at different park sites. Lights are available on certain fields for an additional fee.

This class is designed for those over 50 or who are looking for a fun way to stay in shape. Participate in cardio, balance, flexibility, coordination, and muscle toning activities.

Gently start your morning with light yoga stretches and breathing. From there we will tone the body with effective Pilates exercises to strengthen the core and all the muscles in your body. The class will finish with a full body stretch combined with breathing exercises that will have you feeling bright and energized for the rest of the day. EB Join us right from your living room as we explore new cultures and learn Spanish, French, or Italian via Zoom! Younger children will learn through fun and interactive activities and music, while older children will learn phonetics to begin reading and writing in that language. Children’s Theater Company of Cary

Grades 2nd - 6th EB Develop confidence, creativity, and stage presence while participating in a Cary Park District directed performance. Learn what it takes to make theater magic happen in a fun, yet driven environment. Students audition for a role in the play, are cast by the director, and will rehearse until show time. All students are guaranteed a speaking role in the play. Students will also play games while working on impromptu, projection, and listening skills. Students must be available for all rehearsals and the performance day. Tech week will take place 10/30 - 11/3.

DANCE INSPIRATION DANCE STUDIO

The Cary Park District dance program serves children 18 months - 18 years in a variety of new and exciting classes. Students enjoy learning proper dance technique in a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Our instructors understand that every child is unique and learns differently from their peers.

Classes are tailored to fit the needs of everyone enrolled. Dancers learn to release their emotions, no matter what they are, through dance, perseverance, and most importantly, fun!

Location

This fall Inspiration Dance Studio will be expanding and adding a third dance studio. Classes will take place at the Community Center (CC), 255 Briargate Road and Sunburst Bay Aquatic Center (SBAC) Oasis Room, 1201 N. First Street.

Payment Options

In order to make classes more affordable, we have developed a payment plan option. Payments for all classes may be split into 4 monthly payments. Please see the payment schedule below:

Skill Placement

In order for all dancers to gain the most out of each class, instructors may recommend a higher or lower level class. Pointe classes will be placement by instructor only. Please contact the Park District for more information and to register for these classes.

Winter Showcase

The Winter Showcase for all classes will take place in early December. We are working to finalize the date with one of our District schools to host our event. Rehearsal for showcase will take place the day before. More detailed information will be available as we receive it.

Winter Showcase Costumes

A minimal costume fee is built into the price of the session for all classes up through Level III/IV. Dancers will be measured in class during the first couple of weeks to ensure appropriate sizing.

Join us August 22 for our first ever Studio Open House!

During the open house dancers and families will have the opportunity to meet the teachers, register for classes, participate in fun activities, and more! Individual assessments for level placements will also take place to ensure your dancer is in the appropriate class.

Dance Company

Dance Company will be offered to all dancers age 6 and up enrolled in at least one class at Inspiration Dance Studio. Company is an amazing way for dancers of all ages and ability levels to get a chance to work together, learn from one another, and form a team bond that will last a lifetime. Company dancers will be offered other performance opportunities besides the showcase in December. These may include halftime shows, festivals, parades, etc. Company dancers will be required to purchase company jackets and company shirts at the beginning of the session.

A company only information meeting will take place on Wednesday, September, 6 at the Community Center at 5:30 pm. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Company.

Dance Attire

Ballet & Pointe Leotards, pink tights, pink ballet shoes, or pointe shoes. Wrap skirts or booty shorts may be worn as well as warm-ups for upper level classes. Younger dancers can wear the leotards that have attached skirts, fun patterns, etc. For our boys in the class, please wear athletic pants and a t-shirt with black ballet shoes.

Jazz/Hip Hop and Broadway Leotards, tanks, tight fitting t-shirts/sweatshirts, leggings, yoga pants, booty shorts, and black jazz shoes (tan tights if you want to wear tights). Level III/IV and up will wear turners. Boys should wear athletic pants/shorts t-shirt and jazz shoes. Bring clean sole sneakers for hip-hop as well.

It is best known for its unique features such as turnout of the legs, and its graceful, flowing, and precise movements. Ballet is the basis of almost every dance style and its techniques are very important for classes such as lyrical, contemporary, and jazz.

Jazz

Jazz is a style of dance incorporating grand body movements such as kicks, jumps, leaps, turns, tricks, etc.) to enhance its choreography. Ballet technique is used to execute movements with proper technique and body placement. Our jazz classes include several different categories including but not limited to jazz/funk, contemporary jazz, commercial jazz, and more.

Broadway

Broadway is a musical theatre style dance class using techniques found in Broadway musical productions. Dancers will learn prop work, character building, acting for dancers, along with dance techniques to execute these performances.

Ballet

Contemporary/Lyrical

Contemporary/Lyrical are expressive and powerful forms of dance that heavily rely on the techniques and skills learned in both ballet and jazz to execute its techniques. Students in these classes will form bonds with their classmates through the storytelling of each song played and the emotions they are asked to convey. Classes include improvisation, floor work, combinations, center, across the floor, partner lifts, and more.

Hip-Hop

Hip-Hop is a style of dance constantly evolving with the culture of hip-hop music. Classes learn all different styles of hiphop by doing different combinations each week from different genres. Dancers use some breaking moves and tricks to enhance the dances.

ET KIDZONE New Schedule Changes & Refund Information for the 2023/2024 School Year

ET KidZone is a quality before and after school program designed to provide a safe and engaging environment for kindergarten and elementary school children in Cary School District 26. ET KidZone participants will enjoy independent and organized activities in a supervised setting. Children will have the opportunity for indoor and outdoor play, activities such as crafts, group games, table activities, and time for homework and/or reading. A snack will be offered to participants in the afternoon.

Registration

Registration can be completed at carypark.com and at the Community Center. Please visit the ‘Forms’ section of the Park District website for the registration form, parent handbook, and additional forms that are required before your child can begin his or her first day of ET KidZone.

ET KidZone will continue to allow flexible scheduling options to meet families’ individual needs. However, schedule changes will need to be submitted in writing, via email, to the Recreation Program Manager by the 25th of each month for the upcoming month. Any requests to add days require a three-business day wait period.

Refunds or credits will not be given for missed days due to illness, vacation, or changes in schedules that are not submitted in writing by the 25th of the month prior.

Monthly Payments

Monthly payments are due on the 1st of each month. Payment options include monthly auto-payment, cash, check, and most major credit cards. Payment Plan Authorization forms are available at the Community Center or at carypark.com.

The first month’s payment is due upon registration.

Day-Off School Programs

Day-Off School programs will be offered on select days when school is not in session. The Day-Off School programs are held at the Cary Park District Community Center from 7:00 am - 6:00 pm. These programs have a separate registration and payment and will be advertised through the Park District website, social media, and through e-mail. ET KidZone will open on Cary School District 26 scheduled half-days at noon and children will need to bring a sack lunch.

Forest Bathing Walk

Adults 18+

CF Take part in a slow, mindful walk that will help you awaken your senses and connect with nature. There are plenty of benefits to immersing yourself in nature through a forest therapy walk (also called forest bathing). You can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, boost immunity, and increase feelings of calm and gratitude. Walks are not strenuous and cover less than half a mile. Participants will be guided through a series of gentle invitations to slow down, be present, and explore nature through the senses. Cary Canaries Glee Club

The Cary Canaries Glee Club share the love of music and performing. The Glee Club performs at several Cary Park District senior parties throughout the year plus monthly performances for various groups throughout the community. The Glee Club meets Tuesdays from 10:00 - 11:15 am. All are welcome to join.

Chair Yoga

This low impact yoga helps with pain relief, relaxation, and flexibility. Instruction is done by video. Chair Yoga meets Tuesdays from 9:00 - 10:00 am.

Craft Club

Join others by working on individual or group projects. All are welcome, no crafting or artistic experience necessary.

Dominoes Club

Meet others and enjoy playing Dominoes. No experience necessary as this friendly group will help you learn. Dominoes Club often hosts a Dominoes Tournament for prizes. Dominoes Club meets on the first Thursday of the month from 10:00 - 12:30 pm.

Holiday Party in a Bag! Over the past three years the Holiday Party in a Bag has been a huge success in providing a way for area seniors to celebrate the holidays. Seniors in the community will have the opportunity to register to receive a Holiday Party Bag!

REGISTRATION

Age Appropriate:

Ages and/or grades are listed with programs as guidelines for age-specific ability. The younger the participant, the more this guideline must be followed to ensure safety, enjoyment, and accomplishment. A birth certificate may be requested if doubt occurs concerning a participant’s age.

Behavior:

Although the Park District realizes that inappropriate behavior may occur, the Park District reserves the right to suspend or remove participants from programs or facilities if hazardous, disruptive, and/or destructive behavior persists. If a participant is taken out of a program or removed from a facility due to these circumstances, a prorated refund will be issued for the remainder of the program or facility usage.

Minimum/Maximum:

A minimum and maximum number of participants is set for each program. This is to ensure the best possible experience for each participant. The Park District may increase or reduce program size if necessary.

Photos and Videos

Photos and video footage are periodically taken of participants in a class, during a special event, or in the District’s parks and facilities. Please be aware that by registering for Park District programs and activities or by using the Park District’s parks and facilities you agree that any photograph or videotape taken by the Park District may be used by the District for promotional purposes including print and electronic media without further permission and without any compensation to you. All photos/ videos are property of the Park District.

In Case of Oops!

During the course of Park District programs, there can be unforeseen circumstances that force the Park District to change schedules, instructors, combine or postpone programs, adjust facility usage or modify fees. The Park District makes every effort to ensure that the information presented in this brochure is complete and accurate; however, sometimes errors do occur and we apologize in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.

Insurance:

The Park District does not carry medical or accident insurance for program or facility participants. The cost would make program fees prohibitive. Please review your own personal health insurance plan to be certain that you and your family have the proper coverage.

Policies, Procedures and Guidelines:

Additional Park District policies, procedures and guidelines are available for review at the Cary Park District Community Center.

Fees:

Resident/Non-resident - The first program fees listed in the brochure are for Cary Park District residents. Non-resident (NR) fees are listed second and are the higher rate of the two.

Residents support the Park District through tax dollars, while non-residents pay to participate through higher registration fees. All account balances must be paid in full before registering for new programs.

Fair Share - Those desiring to achieve resident status may pay their “fair share” of taxes based on the taxable value of their home. This entitles an individual to pay in-district fees and register for programs at the same time as residents. Fair share will be applied over a 12-month period. Some exceptions apply, please refer to the Fair Share Guidelines found in the Forms section of carypark.com.

The taxable value of a property is stated clearly on the tax bill.

Fair share in not necessarily for everyone. This has to be determined by you, taking into consideration the frequency of Park District use and the value of your home.

The inquiring individual should provide a copy of their current tax bill to the Superintendent of Recreation for review. The Fair Share amount will be calculated and a written reply will be sent. If you don’t have a copy of your current tax bill, call your taxing township for your home’s taxable value.

Waiver of Fees - A Waiver of Fees program is available to provide assistance to residents with financial hardship. Confidential application may be made to the Superintendent of Recreation. Personal financial records may be requested to verify need.

ADA:

The Cary Park District complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), which prohibits discrimination in the provision of programs, services or activities to individuals with disabilities. The Park District invites any resident with a special need to contact us, or the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association staff, upon registration, to ensure a smooth inclusion.

In addition to the programs listed within our brochure, the Park District also provides specialized services for people with disabilities through the Northern Illinois Special Recreation Association (NISRA). Feel free to call NISRA at 815.459.0737, or see the NISRA section of this brochure for more information.

This form of registration requires you to submit credit card payment and is also in “real time”; you will know immediately that you have been accepted into a class or program. Some programs are not available for online registration, but included for display purposes only. These programs can be registered using the following methods:

Residency Checks

Any registrations with payment in cash or by credit card, and no previous account history, are subject to having residency checked with a printed form of proof such as a driver’s license, utility bill, etc. Also, addresses on checks that do not match addresses on registration forms will be subject to a residency check. Individual families should register on one form. Multiple families listed on one form will prevent your registration from being processed.

A registration confirmation will be provided only when a registration has not been granted (i.e., wait list). In this instance, a confirmation will be issued to confirm the status of these registrations.

Payment Accepted

The Cary Park District accepts checks (payable to Cary Park District), cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. Do not pay with cash if mailing or dropping your registration in the drop box. Receipts will be issued upon registration at the Community Center for cash payment validation.

Withdrawal Guidelines: Cary Park District reserves the right to cancel any program with insufficient enrollment.

All refund requests must be made on a Cary Park District withdrawal form and submitted to the Cary Park District office and not with the program instructor. All refund/withdrawal requests will be assessed a $5 service charge. If the second meeting of a program has passed, withdrawal requests will be considered on a prorated basis in addition to the $5 service charge. Refunds will not be issued after the third class meeting. Refer to withdrawal form for refund options.

Refunds will not be issued for one-day programs or events, sports leagues, tournaments or tickets to sports/entertainment/events or deposits for programs.

Memberships, pool passes, Preschool, and E.T. KidZone withdrawals will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis and may require support documentation.

I recognized and acknowledge that there are certain risks of physical injury to participants in these programs/activities, and I voluntarily agree to assume the full risk of any and all injuries, damages or loss, regardless of severity, that my minor child/ward or I may sustain as a result of said participation. I further agree to waive or relinquish all claims I or my minor child/ward may have (or accrue to me or my child/ward) as a result of participating in these programs/activities against the Cary Park District including its officials, agents, volunteers, and employees (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Cary Park District”).

I do herby fully release and forever discharge the Cary Park District from any and all claims for injuries, damages, or loss that my minor child/ward or I may have or which may accrue to me or my minor child/ward arising out of, connected with, or in any way associated with these programs/activities.

I have read and fully understand the above important information, warning of risk, assumption of risk, and waiver and release of claims. If registering via fax, your facsimile signature shall substitute for and have the same legal effect as an original form signature.

Photo Release: The Cary Park District takes photos and videos of participants in programs, during special events, and in the District’s parks and facilities. By signing the waiver, you are giving permission to the District to use these photos and videos in our publications and on our website and social media outlets without further permission and without any compensation to you. All photos and video are the property of the District.

Fur-ever Companion Memorial Plaques Whether your dog was your companion, best friend, secret keeper, buddy, comfort, or anything in between, we have a unique opportunity to remember him or her with a commemorative memorial plaque at one of his or her favorite places to play - the Hoffman Park Dog Park. Each plaque will become part of the rainbow that will be affixed to the fence inside the park.
