Watch Next Brings ‘Dungeons & Kittens’ to Cartoon Forum 2023 Inspired by role-playing game tropes, the kids’ series follows four kittens banished from the ‘Kingdom of Cats’ who must learn to work together to find the treasure that will be their ticket home.

Watch Next, a leading French producer and distributor of animated content, has begun development of Dungeons & Kittens, an animated series (13 x 22) targeting kids aged six and up. Created by Clément De Ruyter and Mélanie Duval and supported by France Télévisions, the show draws inspiration from role-playing tropes – reimagined from a child’s perspective. It promises to transport viewers to a fantastical universe filled with "meowgic,” dangers, and secrets. The series will follow the adventures of four kittens, Fib, Precious, Suds, and Ruffles, who are banished from the Kingdom of Cats and must search for the treasure that will take them home. Plunged into a dark and mysterious world, where each step presents its own challenges, the kittens must show cunning and bravery and face countless dangers, but most importantly, they must learn to work together. North Macedonia’s Sitel supports V House Animation, Toon2Tango’s Littlest Robot

Jetpack Distribution is also on board Littlest Robot

North Macedonian broadcaster Sitel is supporting an animated preschool series that local prodco V House Animation and Germany’s Toon2Tango will be pitching at Cartoon Forum next month. Coproduced by V House and Toon2Tango, Littlest Robot is a 52×11’ 3D animated series about social-emotional learning, featuring a little robot and his animal friends – a rat, a cat, a hen, a dog and a hedgehog. The show focuses on emotions and learning to deal with them, in a social context, through a group of friends who are discovering both the world around them and their own group dynamics. Northern Ireland’s Sixteen South and Nelvana back A Horse Named Steve

Animation A Horse Named Steve is adapted from Kelly Collier’s children’s book

Belfast-based animation studio Sixteen South is developing a 2D animated series based on popular Canadian kids’ book A Horse Named Steve, written by authorillustrator Kelly Collier. The 52×11’ project is a coproduction with Canadian children’s content studio Nelvana, headquartered in Toronto, and is aimed at children aged six to nine. The story features an endearingly silly horse named Steve who ﬁnds a magical golden horn in the forest. When he attaches it to his head, the horn allows him to be exceptional. However, when he loses it, Steve is devastated and embarks on a slapstick mission to rediscover his best self. Sara Daddy has written the cartoon series, with Sixteen South founder and creative director Colin Williams set to direct. Sixteen South has previously produced titles such as: Odo, for UK pubcaster Channel 5’s Milkshake! strand; and The Coop Troop, developed with France Televisions and China’s Tencent Video. The Northern Irish company will attend Cartoon Forum in Toulouse, France, next month to pitch A Horse Named Steve to potential buyers, investors and partners.
