the journey of rey The Planet Jakku is under attack from the “First Order” troops, symbolic of the tyrannical rule in the galaxy by now Supreme Leader SNOKE. Who will lead the way to peace and the triumph of good over evil? REY, abandoned on Jakku by her parents, is presented as an industrious, considerate, and courageous person who’s theme also characterizes her agility and kindness of heart. She is met in opposition by KYLO REN, the son of Han Solo and Leia Skywalker, who has been turned to the dark side of the force by Snoke. Snoke’s “First Order” Is met with a rebel alliance known as “The Resistance”, a determined but largely outnumbered assembly. Their marching theme is highly indicative of their resolve. The Resistance forces, led by none other than GENERAL LEIA, search for the Jedi Master LUKE SKYWALKER who has gone into seclusion. Rey is sent to solicit the help of Skywalker, which will lead her to the ancient home of the Jedi. “The Rebellion is Reborn” with pilot POE DAMERON and a reluctant Skywalker. He is gradually persuaded to assist in the rebellion, in no small part due to the counsel and challenges given by YODA. Rey leaves Luke in order to return to fight with the resistance, and to aid General Leia, who has been trapped in battle with Kylo Ren. Luke then appears, in a virtual state, to perform one last heroic deed before his passing. Another return (or two) is in order as the last episode begins, where the triumphant main title music fades into a new theme. “The Rise of Skywalker”, a theme of friendship, and the triumph of good over evil, winds and soars as no other music in the saga. The Rise of Skywalker is not Luke, however, or Leia, but of Rey. Her coupling as a force pair with Kylo Ren plays out over the course of the sequel trilogy, where it can finally bring an end to the evil Sith, the tyrannical first order, and the cloned Emperor PALPATINE (who we learn is the real father of Rey). It is with the Rise of Rey, who takes the name Skywalker as her own, that peace is restored, and the Star Wars finally cease.
