campus pastor’s note
As Carthage’s Campus Pastor, I’m thrilled to experience Jesus Christ Superstar with this community!
The show‘s artistic representation of Jesus’ last days on earth is fabulously creative, while also following closely to the 4 gospel accounts. I experience this production as a faithful representation of these core events for Christians.
Since its debut on Broadway in 1971, Jesus Christ Superstar has lived the tension of artistic freedom and honoring sacred story. This tension can deepen one’s faith, challenge faith, or simply be a great show.
Whatever drew you to this theater today, may this production inspire and challenge, nurture and nudge, and give you moments of awe and delight.
I am so proud of the cast and crew! Their dedication to prepare this production, while wrestling with this story’s meaning in each of their lives, has been inspiring. I hope you will experience their artistry and passion as they bring to life Jesus Christ Superstar for us.
Enjoy the show!

Fine Arts at Carthage acknowledges that the land on which our building stands is part of the traditional Potawatomi, Sioux, Peoria, Kickapoo, and Miami peoples past, present, and future. These homelands reside along the southwest shores of Michigami, North America’s largest system of freshwater lakes. We honor with gratitude the land itself, and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations. Many Indigenous peoples thrive in this place—alive and strong, and this calls us to commit to continuing to learn how to be better stewards of the land we inhabit as well.
