biographies Genevieve Clements has been a performer since the age of 5. After graduating summa cum laude with Bachelor’s of Music in Classical Voice Performance from the Hartt School, she became a full-time voice and piano teacher around the state of Connecticut. Highly sought after as a teacher, music director, and choral singer, she maintains a busy schedule filled with music of all different styles including classical, musical theatre, jazz, pop, and rock. Genny is accredited as a voice teacher through the International Voice Teachers of Mix (IVTOM), has served as Music Director for over 30 cabarets and musicals over the past 5 years, and is a member of VOCE Inc., New England’s Chamber Choir. When not singing, she enjoys reading, knitting, and trying out new recipes in her kitchen! She is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy at Carthage College in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Linda Madonia has been the vocal coach and accompanist for the Master of Music in Music Theatre Vocal Pedagogy program since its’ inception in the Fall of 2019. Along with her duties at Carthage, Linda works as a professional Music Director and Contractor in Chicago and abroad. Credits include Music Theater Works, Porchlight Music Theater, Drury Lane Oakbrook, Theater at the Center, and the Mercury Theater. She also serves as the Chicago Federation of Musicians Contractor at Music Theater Work, Teatro Zinzanni and Porchlight Music Theatre. For the past six years, Linda has conducted Chamber Opera Chicago’s International tour of Persuasion and was the Music Director and Conductor of the Equity Jeff Awards in Chicago for fifteen years. Linda also owns American Eagle Productions, a theatre education company that teaches classes and workshops to students ages 3-13. American Eagle Productions has been at the forefront of theatre education in Chicago for 30 years.
thank yous Welcome to my Lecture-Recital! Thank you all so much for coming! While the songs listed here are definitely going to be sung, they may not be the only songs I use during this program. Any other pieces will be announced from the stage. I would love to take this opportunity to thank a few special people who helped make today possible. Thank you, first and foremost, to my amazing pianist Linda Madonia. Thank you to Dr. Corinne Ness and all of the other Carthage faculty who have freely offered such incredible guidance and opportunities over the course of this year! While I’ve always liked school, you all made me truly love my year here in Wisconsin. Thank you to my students here at Carthage and back on the East Coast for listening to me ramble and allowing me to do what I love day in and day out. Thank you and congratulations to my peers here at Carthage. You’ve all kept me from insanity this year and I can’t wait to see what we all do with our newly-minted Masters degrees! And last, but certainly not least, to my family- both biological and chosen- thank you for supporting me every step of this journey. Hopefully you know how grateful I am to have all of you in my life. Thank you for cheering me on, cheering me up, and bearing with me as I ‘nerd out’ about all things voice-related! I love you all more than words can express!
