The PRIME Journey Continues…
Now that we’ve got your attention with The Revolutionists, we’d love to see you back as part of the PRIME family as we craft nuanced perceptions of mature women and make sure that it not only includes, but fully embraces and celebrates all cultures of womanhood.
Here are some of our upcoming plans:
PRIME Productions plans to continue with PRIME Voices: A Staged Reading series that focuses on stories about mature women. The series includes three play readings presented in three consecutive months at 3 separate venues, each for one night only and offered for free! These plays allow us to employ a myriad of Twin Cities’ valuable female theater artists and explore new, as well as classic plays, shedding light on different nuanced versions of mature womanhood.
Emerging from its “online” reading in the 2021 PRIME Voices Series, PRIME is now working in tandem with the Playwrights Center to develop Abuelita by Nathan Yungerberg. Set in Spanish Harlem in the 1990s during a historic heatwave, the play includes four fabulous roles for mature women and the “coming of age” of two mixedrace teens.
And last but not least, PRIME is now on a national search to commission a playwright to develop a play based on the struggles of mothers and grandmothers in the emergence of the Black Lives Matter movement. We can’t wait to discover what a new voice at PRIME could craft to represent richer, deeper stories about mature women and their worlds.
Thanks to all of the people who’ve helped us to sustain and grow PRIME.
Here’s how you can be a part of the PRIME family:
