George Washington Carver Park was established in 1950 on Lake Allatoona as the First Georgia State Park for African Americans. Part of the African American Heritage Trail, its history is remembered through interpretive signs and in photographs within its special events pavilion. Today it is a day-use facility on Lake Allatoona, and is a perfect venue for events, corporate picnics, team building activities, and day retreats.
