Have you ever wondered what the world would look like without sunlight? April 8, 2024 will be the day your wondering will be answered. Many wonder how or who discovered the first solar eclipse. According to “Google” the first known telescopic observation of a total eclipse was made in France in 1706. Edmund Halley accurately predicted and observed the solar eclipse of May 3, 1715. So what is a solar eclipse? A solar eclipse happens when the moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, casting a shadow on Earth that either fully or partially blocks the Sun’s light in some areas, (NASA retrieved April 2, 2024)
On April 8, 2024 the Solar Eclipse will happen. It will be visible all across North America. The event will take place between 1 pm - 2 pm.

SAFETY DURING THE SOLAR ECLIPSE
It is very important that you wear protected glasses to ensure your eye safety. Why? It is not safe to look directly at the sun without protected glasses. Looking at the Sun can damage your eyes Again, be sure to wear protective eye wear.
Looking at the Solar Eclipse with the proper eye protection will be an amazing experience. Consider recording your experience and sharing with your friends and teacher You may even get extra credit. Enjoy the Solar Eclipse experience.

TIME TO DEBATE
One of the most engaging groups on our campus is the debate club You cannot judge a book by its cover Open and turn the page and you will be impressed by the information inside the book You will also be impressed by the knowledge of these young men Each one specializes in a very specific subject and all are skilled in debating. We cannot share their area of expertise so their opponents will not have an unfair advantage in the next debate. But watch out, listen, and learn because their expertise will shine through in the next debate.
SO, WHAT’S THE DEBATE TEAM?
The Debate Team provides students with the opportunity to express their opinions and views on various topics. It requires reading, writing, and speaking. You will be surprised as to how much you really know when you put your mind to it says Kadarius Smith. The Debate Team is a really great outlet as well says Martavius Brown. It allows us time to think, talk, and debate. Last, Jason Dumas says it is great to go on trips and engage with students from different schools and cultures.

Running track plays a crucial role in athletics. This sport provides a controlled environment for training, competition, and recreational activities that are related to running, jumping, and all types of track and field events. Our track team continues to make progress and we congratulate the track team and coaches. David W. Carter High School has some of the fastest students in Texas.
