STAAR TEST
It is here. This time of the year is referred to as the academic super bowl. For some, it is the NBA finals. For others it is simply the testing season. Whatever you call it please remember this is a stressful time of the year for our Scholars. Whatcanourscholarsdotomaximizetheirperformanceonthetest?
Research suggest that passing test requires several key steps. As much as possible pick one or two and implement theminyourclassroom.
Before we list the strategies let’s talk about the students. Students need as much support as possible during this time of the year. Support us and provideuswithencouragement.
Help us to understand the material. Provide us with time to organize our notes. Allow us to practice by providing practice questions. Use active study techniques like permitting us time to summarize in our own words. We need time to think. Help us manage our time by using a time keeper. Teachers take care of yourself so you can help us. Remind us tostaycalm,toreadinstructionscarefully,andto
review our answer choices.
Encourage us to trust the process. We have worked hard all school year. Let’s all stay focused for these next few weeks. We will all make it and we as the students will perform well on our test. Thank youforhelpingussucceed.

The David W. Carter Soccer girls had an amazing 2023-2024 season.
The whole team adjusted to the new season while losing most of the previous seniors. All of the players understood the circumstances and dominated throughout the season.
TEAM WORK MAKES THE DREAM WORK
The girls worked hard all year to adapt to all new players and coaches. The girls fought for what they wanted and never let up. They ensured they worked and played hard as a team. Team work makes thedreamworkandwebelieveit.
Reece and A’lecia are looking forward to next season. They hope to be the team captains and to win the city championship. Also, they both inspire to be better athletes and to improve their grades They are looking forward to college and playing at the college level.
