Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space 3303 Butti Way # 9 (775) 887-2262

Message from the Director Did you know that Carson City has more parks per capita than the national average? With over 8,000-acres of parks, trails, and open space in Carson City, it takes a diverse and devoted team of employees, volunteers, and community partners to keep our parks system functioning. Last year alone, the City had more than 4,500 hours of volunteer labor from dedicated individuals and groups such as Muscle Powered, Carson High School Cycling Team, Boys and Girls Scouts, and many other churches and service organizations. Sponsorships from Southwest Gas and Carson Tahoe Health enabled hundreds of youth to participate in outdoor recreation programs, and Home Depot provided a much needed re-fresh at Lone Mountain Cemetery to honor our veterans. The Chamber of Commerce championed a fundraising gala for the Community Center and dozens of civic-minded businesses supported interpretive education programs that promote healthy lifestyles. We truly appreciate the tremendous efforts of our staff and community partners that help make our capital city such a special place to live, work and play.
