CARSON CITY AND DOUGLAS COUNTY SOCIAL DISTANCING TRAIL GUIDE

Safe Recreation During COVID-19 I hope you are all safe and healthy and doing your part to social distance in order to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. If you’re like me, getting outside and connecting to nature is an important part of your daily or weekly routine, and that was before we were asked to shelter in place. Now, more than ever, it is important to take a few moments each week to get outside and breathe some fresh air. How do we do this or should we do this considering the regulations that are in place? Each person needs to answer that for themselves depending on their risk level if they contact the virus or their potential to spread it to others. However, the Nevada State Government and our local health departments are still encouraging people to get outside as long as they can do so in a safe and responsible manner. We are fortunate to live in Nevada, where there is ample space to recreate. If you choose to go out on a trail, please follow basic social distancing guidelines found on the next page and only hike with those who are already in your household. The purpose of this guide is not to show the best trails so everyone flocks to the same location. The purpose is to illustrate that there are hundreds of miles of trails in our region. If your favorite trail attracts lots of people, find a new one. This guide is meant to be a resource to help spread people out so no particular trail or attraction gets too crowded. I hope to see you out on the trails, from a distance. Please be safe out there and work together as a community so this period in time will pass.
