You can register for programs in one of two ways: online at www.carson.org/ccpr or by visiting the MAC, Carson Aquatic Facility, or Community Center (between 2:30pm6:30pm).

If you see this symbol, it means it is a brand new program that we have not offered before. Sign up, enjoy, then tell us what you think. We are always trying to improve our programs and offer new experiences to the community.
CANCELATION/REFUND POLICY
Refunds will be given only when a program is canceled by the Parks and Recreation Department. Canceled contract class refunds will be the responsibility of the instructor. Refunds requested for any other reason will be determined at the discretion of management and may be subject to a 10% processing fee. Refunds may take 2-3 weeks to process.

SUMMER RATES AND MEMBERSHIPS
• Pool admission fee includes weight room privileges.
• Lifejackets must be US Coast Guard Approved & are available free of charge upon request.
• The Aquatic Facility is CLOSED Sundays and holidays.
* 1 month, 3 month and annual passes are only available to Carson City residents.

Aquatics
AQUACIZE
Aquacize is a co-ed water exercise program for adults of all ages, in a friendly, energetic atmosphere. Swimming skills are not required. No music is used so the pace is relaxed. This low-impact, water exercise program will tone muscles of all parts of the body with less stress on muscles. Classes are one hour long. Drop-ins welcome.

CARSON TIGERSHARKS COMPETITIVE SWIM PROGRAM
League swimming is the best way to be introduced to the sport of swimming without the high commitment of an elite club. Leagues run on a seasonal basis, and competitions are short and fun, typically running 2-3 hours. The Carson Tigersharks emphasize stroke technique, racing, and friendships for junior swimmers (aged 5-12) and senior swimmers (aged 13-18). ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: One 25yd length of front crawl, one 25yd length of back crawl, comfortable in deep water. This class is designed to increase mobility and range of motion through a series of gentle, head-to-toe exercises in the 92 degree Adult Therapy Pool. These exercises are extremely low impact and are perfect for those with arthritis or who are recovering from surgery or injury. If physical limitations, injuries, joint pain, or stiffness limit your mobility and/or exercising options, this class might be just what you need. Swimming skills not required. Exercises are not cardiovascular in nature.

RED CROSS LIFEGUARD CERTIFICATION
Get trained as a lifeguard today! Red Cross Lifeguard Certification is a good way to seek lifeguard employment at facilities across the country, or just take the class to learn valuable skills in lifesaving, first aid, and CPR. Participants must be able to pass a pre skills swim test. The course is a blended learning program, where some course work will be online at home and the rest will be in person.

GROWN-UPS & GUPPIES
Making the water fun for your guppy is the most important step in preparing for swim lessons. This class is designed to acquaint adult and child with play activities and to teach some very basic fundamental skills. The course is parent-driven, under the supervision of an instructor. No registration is required. Class is limited to 12 adult/child pairs, on a first-come, first-served basis.

Ever wanted to learn how to kayak, or to keep up with your skills during the off-season? The Carson Aquatic Facility is opening its doors to kayakers. This is a drop-in program and no instruction is provided. Please clean your kayak before entering the facility, or ask staff for access to a hose.

ASD SWIM LESSONS
Inclusive lessons for individuals on the Autism Spectrum or other special needs requiring additional attention. All abilities are welcome. Classes are designed to have a maximum of 3:1 ratio and help participants learn how to be water safe. This is a drop-in program so come and try it out. Days and times may change due to instructor availability.

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD

This camp is perfect for those who love the water and are interested in learning some basic lifeguarding skills. Participants must have the ability to swim front crawl for 25 yards, breast stroke for 25 yards, tread water for 1 minute and exit the pool without stairs or ladder.

Interested in learning First Aid and CPR? Sign up for this educational session. Successful completion of the course will provide a certificate. Must be registered by June 1.

The Movers & Doers program provides recreational experiences for individuals of all abilities and their families. Activities are designed to contribute to the physical, mental, social, emotional growth, and development of all individuals. CARSON JR VICTORY ROLLERS
Indoor Roller Derby! Girls and boys ages 10-17 will learn the basics of flat-track roller derby in a 6 week off-skates program before joining the rest of the team on the track. New participants are not required to have any skates or gear for the first 6 weeks and skating experience is not required. Once on skates, participants will learn how to skate safely and be taught derby rules and skills. Skaters advance at their own speed to eventually land a spot on the Junior Derby team 2019 new skater programs will begin April 2nd and October 1st. Capital Kids is a before and after school program that takes place every school day during the school year, plus camps held during winter, Thanksgiving and spring breaks. The Before School Program meets at the Carson City Community Center where school busses will take children to the appropriate school. The After School Program takes place at the various elementary schools in Carson City.

Camp Carson is a summer program full of fun and educational activities that will keep your children entertained throughout the workday. The program runs Monday –Friday from 7:00am – 6:00pm. You can check-in and pick-up your child at any time. Throughout the week, campers will participate in STEAM activities, arts & crafts, swimming, guest speakers, free time, group games, and field trips.

Miners (Kindergarten and 1st Grade) - PBS Kids: This resource is a collection of multi-media activities from kid’s favorite PBS shows and characters.
Big Horns (2nd Grade) - NRPA Wildlife Explorers: This program comes from the NRPA (National Recreation and Parks Association), and connects youth to nature through a variety of nature-based games and activities; while completing their own Wildlife Explorer Workbook.
Wolf Pack (3rd and 4th Grade) - Sports Revolution: This new program will introduce kids to new games and sports that are age-appropriate and inspire them to have fun and be active.
Capitals (5th & 6th Grades) - Exploration Nation: This program, designed by Carson City Parks and Recreation, teaches the value of nature and being active in the outdoors. Each week, Capitals will participate in a local outdoor activity such as hiking, biking, or fishing, often aided by organizations such as the Nevada Department of Wildlife.

All campers have the ability to participate in swim lessons while attending Camp. Swim lessons will be offered at a special time specific to Camp Carson campers. Don’t worry about getting your kids to swim lessons, Camp staff will take care of that for you. Additional fee and registration required.
FIELD TRIPS
Campers will have the ability to participate in a regional field trip each week. Regional field trips charter school buses, and take campers to locations in Reno, Tahoe, or Douglas County for the majority of the day.
Regional field trips are optional and require registration and additional fees. Fees vary depending on the field trip, but typically range from $20-$35 depending on the activity and location.

FREE PIONEER CENTER PERFORMANCES
Bring the kids to this FREE performance series in partnership with Pioneer Center Youth Programs, the educational outreach program of the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. Performances are designed to educate, entertain, and enlighten elementary age children through interactive presentations in a variety of artistic disciplines including music, theater, and dance. ARTS ENRICHMENT CAMP FOR KIDS

Five fun-filled days of creativity in art making, dance, and theater. Kids will connect with their inner artist through engaging in unique art projects in pencil drawing, pastel drawing, watercolor painting, and acrylic painting. If you need help in establishing good conduct and curbing bad habits, this is the course for you. Instructor Guy Yeaman’s 50 years of experience will help you teach your dog to obey all the basic obedience commands; heel, sit, stand, stay, and recall. Each dog needs a training collar (choke chain, Halti, gentle leader, etc.). Dogs must be at least 4 months old and current on their shots. Written shot records must be shown at the start of class. Our mission is to train and support roller derby athletes, grow the sport locally, and increase access for members and fans alike. This league values inclusiveness for all, and a roller derby environment that fosters both athletic and personal growth. As a not-for-profit organization, with the camaraderie and support of the community, they hope to give back through charity work, and provide entertainment suitable for all ages. This class is taught with the senior in mind. Those grand golden years have come upon us. Retirement, golf on Saturdays and Sunday brunch with the kids. It’s just as important now as it was when we were younger, in fact more so! This class focuses on strengthening muscles used when walking and getting out of a chair; reduces fear of falling, and aids seniors in staying mobile.

High Intensity Interval Training. A “result –oriented” crosstraining workout involving strength, cardio endurance, balance and core stability. This cross-training workout will focus on one or more of these aspects, and will be different in every class. A perfect cross-training workout to push the student to the next level of fitness.

KAYAK TRIPS
Explore the region’s lakes this summer with trained guided from Carson City Parks and Recreation. Our guides will help you navigate the waters safety and introduce you to some great places to paddle! Kayaking equipment and transportation are included. Various Locations 13yrs+ (with adult)
INTRO TO BACKPACKING
This class is designed to teach the beginner the basics to get you out on the trail. Each trip begins with a pre-trip preparation class on Tuesday at 6pm before the trip to go over itinerary and get fitted for the gear you’ll be using. Then we’ll take you on an overnight backpacking trip to an alpine lake. Backpacking equipment and transportation is included. Moderate fitness level is required.

CLEAR CREEK BOWMEN ARCHERY CAMP
Participants will be taught the fundamentals of archery from the experienced instructors from Clear Creek Bowmen. Drinks will be provided but pack your own snacks.

Try out rock climbing in a safe, controlled environment at the Douglas Community Center and their new 40 foot rock wall. Fee includes transportation, access to the climbing wall and shoe/harness rental. Please remember to pack water and lunch.

YOUTH KAYAK CAMP
This three-day camp will take participants to a variety of great kayaking locations while being taught kayaking skills. Curriculum includes proper paddling techniques, safety, trip planning, games and more. Equipment, transportation and lunch are included.

CAPITAL TO TAHOE TRAIL GRAND OPENING
The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department along with Muscle Powered, Nevada State Parks, and the US Forest Service are please to announce the grand opening of the Capital to Tahoe Trail. This trail connects the west side of Carson City to the Tahoe Rim Trail. Celebrate with live music and special Capital to Tahoe beer from Shoe Tree Brewery. The event may also include a trail ride along the new trail, depending on trail/snow conditions.

In 1996, Carson City residents voted for the Quality of Life Initiative which created the Open Space program. Carson City now has thousands of acres of Open Space and miles of trails. Come check out Carson’s beautiful Open Space properties on one of the many interpretive hikes. They’re free and great for all ages. POOCH PLUNGE HOSTED BY CASI
The Carson City Aquatic Facility is partnering with Carson Animal Services Initiative (CASI) to offer an aquatic adventure for your pups! Pets must be at least 6 months old, current on vaccinations, and friendly around other dogs that are in season. Tennis balls, extra towels and dog treats are provided. A costumed fun 1-mile walk for adults and children, beginning at the Carson City Farmer’s Market at Mills Park. Come celebrate the end of pollinator month by wearing your most fun pollinator or beekeeper costume birds, flowers, bees, bugs, hummingbirds and more are welcome.

“Kids to Parks Day” is a national day of outdoor play promoted by the National Parks Trust. This year, the event will be hosted at Mills Park and will include educational booths, music, food, skate competition, and outdoor activities, including Junior Ranger programs.
