From the Editor

Well that was a headache, wasn’t it? Q3 2021 is thankfully behind us, and touch wood that was the worst of it.

But, I’m proud to say we retained CarsGuide’s position as Australia’s leading online source* for automotive editorial for Q3 2021.

As I mentioned last quarter, we had paused vehicle testing across the team, and elected to focus on our news and advice products, while also dedicating more time to maintaining numerous other elements of our site. Without this strategic shift, the Q3 traffic impact would have been far greater.

It’s quite fitting that this period that gave us all so much couch time saw the CarsGuide YouTube channel eclipse the 200,000 subscriber mark, and the relative pace with which we gained our second 100,000 subscribers suggests we’re very much on the right track with our spectrum of video products. Our Managing Editor – Head of Video, Matt Campbell has the full story on this milestone on page 42. Continuing the 200 theme, Q3 also saw us rack up our 200th episode of The CarsGuide Podcarst, which is a remarkable accomplishment and demonstration of commitment from chief podcaster and Deputy Editor, James Cleary. Read more about the grand celebration that was our 200th podcast on page 47.

I’m also incredibly proud to announce that Tim Nicholson joined our editorial team in September. Tim brings a wealth of talent and experience relating to all facets of our editorial product, and is already making a fantastic contribution to our team culture.

Here’s to Q4 being much easier on all of us, but Q3 would have been much harder without the ongoing support of our OEM partners. Thank you, from the whole CarsGuide team.
