Welcome to the 2025 Swim and Dive Season! We look forward to having everyone back on the pool deck! This guide will walk you through what we have planned for the season and should be your guide throughout the summer! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!
Remember to check Carriage Club SwimTopia. This will be the place to look for calendar, events, etc.
The chairs will send out a weekly email on Sunday nights. The weekly schedule, theme, and meet information will be included in this email.
All participants must opt-in for both Swim & Dive Meets via Swimtopia by 12:00 pm on the Friday before a Swim or Dive meet. If they do not, they will not be included in the meet.
Your child must bring their own towel(s) to practice. The club does not provide towels for swimmers or divers during practice times.
We ask that each family sign up for 4 volunteer shifts this season (two regular season and two Champs).
GENERAL INFORMATION
Meets start at 4:00 PM, and usually last about 3.5 hours; warm ups usually start at 3:00 PM (if that changes, we will let you know). There is a team area where the Carriage Club swimmers will sit together during the meet. It is important that swimmers remain in the team area so they can hear when they are called for their upcoming event.
Each week, a theme is designated for the meets. Themes will be announced on Swimtopia. Team members are encouraged to dress up for the theme to show team spirit.
GOOD THINGS TO BRING FOR EACH MEET
Team swimsuit, swim cap (not required but preferred), goggles, and sunscreen
At least 2 towels (one to sit on and one to dry off)
Games to keep swimmers busy in between their events
Healthy snacks and drinks (swimmers can get hungry and thirsty)
Bag or backpack for everything MAKE SURE TO LABEL ALL ITEMS AND CLEAN UP YOUR AREA AFTER YOU ARE FINISHED
What to bring to a dive meet: towels (or chamois), costume for the theme (if you want), snacks and dry clothes
Meet arrival times: Home - 3:00 PM Away - 3:30 PM Meets Start at 4:00 PM
How meets work… The meet starts with 8U boys. When they finish the 8U girls will compete. Next will be the 10U boys, then girls and so on…
Your diver will be an A, B or C diver. “A” divers are the ones that earn points for the team (there are 6 places per age group per gender). There will be 3 “A” divers/team/age/gender at a regular meet. We also have “B” divers and “C” divers. These divers will earn places and ribbons just not points for the team. Sometimes we will dive someone up - or in an older age group. This is to potentially earn the team more points.
Once your diver competes, you are free to leave.
We have several young divers (8U); afternoon practice is optional for them as we realize they are young and really want this to be a fun experience for all.
We are looking forward to an amazing season!

Waterpolo is a great tradition for older swimmer and divers to work out while still having fun.
Games will be on Saturday mornings and there will be 3-4 games during the season.
Swimmers and Divers must be at least 14 years old to participate in Waterpolo and must compete in at least one CCSAKC meet to participate.
There will be tournament style playoffs before Swim and Dive Champs. There are only 15 players allowed in the pool at a time for safety reasons.
Time Trials will be held on Wednesday, June 4th from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM. Time Trials will run like an actual meet and we will need volunteers, so look out for sign-ups. It is extremely important that the kids participate at time trials and if you do not have a time recorded before the first meet, you will not be able to participate in our first swim meet. We will offer make-up time trials at morning practice on Friday, June 6th, but this is only if you have a pre-approved conflict for June 4th.
If for some reason your swimmer can’t make either session, you will need to contact the swim chairs and schedule a private lesson for your swimmer to be timed. Please, note that he or she will not be swimming against another swimmer and may result in a slower time than what would be produced in the actual time trials.
Make Up Time Trial Schedule:
Freestyle
5 Minute Break
Breaststroke
5 Minute Break
Backstroke
5 Minute Break
Butterfly

All of the information that needs to be communicated will happen through three platforms including Swimtopia, Textcaster and the Club App.
Emails will be sent out through Swimtopia, so please make sure you are registered correctly so you do not miss out on anything this summer.
Textcaster is back this year! We will be sending text messages about weather delays, friendly reminders and important information. Textcaster is optional so please sign up if you would like to be part of this communication thread.
Swimtopia will be the home base for all the information for the Swim and Dive Program!
Swimtopia Link: https://carriageclubswim.swimtopia.com/
Please make sure you are using the most updated SwimTopia app. Go your iTunes or Android app store and search for the free SwimTopia Mobile app. Upon downloading, make sure that notifications are turned on. All Emails and Alerts will be sent to your phone if and when there are immediate changes to an upcoming event.
This form of communication is new to us this year. You will be able to sign up to receive text message communication. The chairs and coaches will communicate reminders, delay in practices, upcoming event and housekeeping items. We will send out the link to sign up soon so be on the lookout.
Parent volunteers for swim and dive meets are an essential part to the success of our program. We kindly ask that each family volunteer.
To sign-up for shifts go to the Meets & Events page and find Swim or Dive meets that have a green "Job Signup" button on the right hand side of the event.
We are asking each Swim and Dive family to volunteer for at least two volunteer shifts during the regular season (time trials included) and two shifts Champs.
Families with children only participating in Pre-Compet and Jr. Jumpers do not need to volunteer.
Please refer to the Parent Volunteer Information page on SwimTopia for detailed description of our volunteer positions.
Due to the many swimmers that we have in the program and when the practices are in the day we are asking that the kids not put their belongings on a table unless they are with an adult. We want to make sure that the club has plenty of tables for people wanting to dine. This will be especially important during the afternoon practice.
Just a reminder that the first week of practice, the parking lot will be busy. Please allow plenty of time to find a parking spot or to drop off the kids! Reminder that all kids under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult.
The Food and Beverage Operations will be open for Swim Team MondayFriday at the following times.
8:00 AM-11:00 AM Breakfast Only
11:00 AM-5:00 PM Lunch
5:00 PM-9:00 PM Dinner
We encourage families to stay after practice and enjoy a meal at the club!
Known as the best week of summer in Kansas City, Swim and Dive Champs is the event the team has been training for the entire season. “B” Champs is equally as important as “A” Champs and we look forward to cheering on all of our swimmers and divers at the 2025 Swim and Dive Champs. A swimmer/diver must participate in two regular season meets.
Dive Champs 2025 will be hosted by Country Club of Leawood! We look forward to cheering on all of Penguin Divers as they take the plunge during Champs. If you do not have a diver in Champs we really encourage the team to come cheer on their fellow penguins.
Dive Champs 2025 will be hosted by Blue Hills Country Club! We look forward to cheering on all of Penguin Divers as they take the plunge during Champs. If you do not have a diver in Champs, we really encourage the team to come cheer on their fellow penguins.

A swimmer may swim in a maximum of four Bud Merritt events including relays, provided that participant does not swim the same event at A Swim Championships. All 8U and 10U age swimmers will have the opportunity to swim freestyle plus one bonus event (must have a qualifying time). 12+ swimmers must have a qualifying time in a regular season meet to swim that stroke at Bud Merritt.
