GENERAL MANAGER UPDATE FROM DAVID NORTH As summer begins to wind down, I want to start by thanking James Wolf and our entire Maintenance team for their tremendous work getting the pool back up and running after our recent mechanical issue. Their hard work and long hours allowed us to finish out our swim season and, just as importantly, host another great Ladies’ Day at the Pool, with more than 180 members and guests enjoying the day. Our pool season will officially come to an end on September 13 with our annual Dog Swim. It is always a fun way to close out another busy summer at the Club—and probably the one day of the year when the dogs enjoy the pool more than the kids. While the pool season is wrapping up, ice season is getting closer every day. The next major milestone for the rink project is the big concrete pour scheduled for September 4, weather permitting. Once poured, the rink will need approximately four weeks to properly cure before we begin making ice. We remain on schedule and are looking forward to having the new rink ready for the upcoming season. We also recently said goodbye to Jared Brandt, our Hockey Director. Jared has been an important part of the Carriage Club and our hockey program, and he will be hard to follow. I want to thank the Board, Ice Committee, coaches, and especially our Carriage Club hockey families who have stepped up to make sure our kids have a great season. We have begun the search for our next Hockey Director and look forward to finding the right person to continue building on the program Jared helped develop. Once the new concrete for the rink is poured, we will turn our attention to another needed improvement. The Ward Parkway entrance into the lower parking lot is currently scheduled to be replaced beginning Monday, September 14. The lower lot will be closed while that work is taking place, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we complete the repair. Quick reminder about our Coach House dining schedule once the pool closes. The Coach House will be open Tuesday through Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. and closed on Sundays and Mondays. Once ice season begins, we will return to being open seven days a week. Lastly, be sure and explore our fall lineup of events – there truly is something for everyone, from J. Rieger and PlumpJack dinners, Bingo Nights, and, of course, all our Halloween festivities in October. These events tend to fill quickly, so please make your reservations early. Thank you to our members and staff for another great summer. I look forward to seeing everyone around the Club this fall.

CLUB PRESIDENT UPDATE FROM JUSTIN BEGNAUD Summer is coming to an end, school has begun, and autumn is around the corner. With that, a few announcements regarding our winter sports programming and registration. I know many of us are saddened by the departure of our Hockey Director, Jared Brandt. Please be assured that the search to find his replacement is already in progress. And in the meantime, the Board of Directors, and the Ice Committee, has appointed Melissa Bowles and Erin Berger as our new Co-Chairs to help lead all Hockey programming for 2026-27. Mrs. Bowles is a past Dive Chair, and Mrs. Berger is a past Swim Chair. Their combined experience managing Swim & Dive Team communications, policies and procedures should translate nicely to our Hockey program. A special thank you is in order for these two ladies, and we appreciate their leadership during this transition period. Hockey team registration is currently open and the rest of our winter registration for Figure Skating, Little Penguins & Learn to Skate will open on September 14th. Please refer to the Club website, or the later pages of this edition of "The Lantern" for more information. A few updates regarding the Club facilities. First, the Ice Rink Construction Project is coming along as planned and is still on schedule. Our partner, CIMCO, has commenced work on the surface area, and will pour concrete on September 4th, followed by a 4-week cure period. There will be minimal impact to the lower-level parking as most of this concrete pour will occur in the late evening and overnight. As for the HVAC system inside the Coach House, I know we have all been tired of seeing the temporary ventilation units in the Zamboni, Fitness Center, and other areas. I am pleased to let everyone know that our HVAC vendor, along with the manufacturer of the air compressor, Trane, has agreed to replace the entire system. This will occur in early 2027, and will be fully functional before the spring. Please be sure to show your appreciation for our fantastic staff. A lot of our pool staff and waitstaff have returned to college, and the staff who remain will continue to work hard and ensure services continue at an optimal level. With this in mind, please share the same level of patience and mutual respect as you would like to be treated. I heard too many stories from the pool deck this summer from both adult members and children disrespecting the staff, disobeying our lifeguards, and misbehaving in and around the pool. I hope I am not alone in thinking this type of behavior at Carriage Club should not be tolerated. So please go out of your way to tell a staff member 'Thank You' for all their hard work. I know this type of gratitude will go a long way. I look forward to seeing you all around the Club!
