A MINUTE WITH OUR GENERAL MANAGER Last month provided extreme temperatures and just a little snow to keep us on our toes. Our staff rallied through to keep the doors open. Especially on February 17th, we were able to welcome members in the dining rooms and on the ice rink. We have a team in place that is willing and dedicated to doing what it takes for The Carriage Club. Thank you to all the managers who came in and worked staff positions to maintain our services to the membership during all the snow days throughout February. Hopefully, March will bring springtime temperatures to stay, of course, after the closing of the ICE season. Questions have been arising, “How is The Carriage Club doing?” Starting this month, I am going to provide a “Financial Snapshot” to keep the membership apprised of the club’s current financial status. It will include the operational numbers that the board reviewed for the month. The January financials below show our loss of labor and revenue due to COVID illness, key positions not filled, and having to close the Clubhouse Dining Room. The Executive Chef and Communications/Membership Director were both vacant the entire month of January. All this combined is attributed to decreased labor costs and utilities. January Operations Snapshot: ** Note: We are significantly under in revenues for January, but it is balanced with our low labor which makes our bottom line a positive number but not up to budgeted expectations. I hope this method of reporting keeps the membership informed and knowledgeable regarding the club’s current financial status. March signals the end of ice season and the transition of the ice rink to the activity court, along with annual cleaning and repairs for our dining areas. Monday, March 7th marks the official closing of ICE. The Coach House will be closed for food and beverage services. See dining services info below. Tuesday, March 8th – Saturday, March 19th: Food and beverage service will be provided in the Clubhouse Dining Room while repairs and cleaning are being done in the Coach House. (This includes lunch service.) Sunday, March 20th- Thursday, March 31st: All food and beverage services will be provided in the Coach House while repairs and cleaning are being done in the Clubhouse. Speaking of dining…Chef James hit the ground running on February 11th. We have received excellent reviews from Valentine’s dinner and brunch. The new menu has also been well received. It is great to see more members dining at the Clubhouse. I am excited about what the future holds in our culinary program. Well done, Chef, keep up the good work!Please remember even though the dining locations will be switched around this month, ALL menus and services are available to the membership. What an exciting time to be a Carriage Club member! As we say goodbye to Old Man Winter and welcome in warm Spring breezes, it’s important to reflect upon the enjoyable winter season that we just experienced. The Carriage Club has had an inspiring couple of months as we witnessed record numbers of our young people participate in our ice rink activities. Our hockey program expanded, especially in the younger ages. That program’s leadership has introduced a portfolio of developmental strategies for children of all ages. Last weekend, our ice show program also had more skaters than we’ve ever seen. Both days of our ice show were filled with fantastic performances. Kudos to our Ice Committee, our ice program staff in hockey and figure skating as well as all the other traditional staff members at the club who continue to deliver high quality contribution in every subsequent year. The energy this past weekend reminded me why I love the club so much. One of the most rewarding experiences this weekend had been the opportunity to visit with so many of you over the past few weeks “unmasked”. As we slowly transition away from the pressure of coexisting with the pandemic, it’s been great to finally experience old friends and new members of our club in a more traditional way. This is a bittersweet moment in time for me as I approach the final few weeks in my position as board chair. This experience has given me a wonderful opportunity to meet so many great people at the club. I’ve built remarkably close friendships with people that would probably been casual acquaintances had we not served together at the club. I’ve also had a very enriching opportunity to grow personally as our leadership team has had to make dramatic adjustments to deal with the pandemic. This experience has enlightened me more about how to manage my relationship style while finding new ways to work better with others. I would like to encourage all of you, especially those of you that recently joined us, to make yourselves available to volunteer your time and talent to help enrich our collective experience at the club. The club really needs you to participate. We have committees and subcommittees that would benefit if more members decided to be more involved. Your participation may also help you uncover aspects about yourself that my help you thrive in your personal life. Try it and see what shakes out. In closing, I would like to thank all of the members at our club who worked with the current board to weather a difficult past few years with unwavering commitment to our club’s community. Your patience and compassion have been appreciated by other members and our staff. We have benefited tremendously have other good people in our circle during this crisis. Ultimately, that is why we joined a community like this one. Tracey Lewis President

WELCOME TO THE CLUB NEW PILATES INSTRUCTOR! Lisa Cherepak, our new Pilates instructor Joined us February 28th. Lisa has been teaching Pilates for over 15 years to 15 to 90 years old's. Additionally she is a Rehabilitation Specialists, for knees ,hips and shoulders. In her free time she enjoys Pickleball, Standup Paddleboarding and running with her friends.
NEW EXECUTIVE CHEF! We are excited to be adding James McCausland to the Carriage Club team as our new Executive Chef! James is a Kansas City native and a graduate of Bishop Miege High School. He started his culinary journey at Johnson County Community College in the Chef Apprenticeship program. While in the program, James spent numerous years at Hallbrook Country Club in various roles, including Executive Pastry Chef and Executive Sous Chef. After leaving Hallbrook, he moved on to Cherry Hills Country Club, a platinum club, in Denver, Colorado. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his rescue dog, Gnocchi.

ICE SEASON
As we come to the end of another glorious Ice Rink season, I'd like to take the opportunity to thank my staff and all members who make working at the Carriage Club the best job ever. To Michael, Maddy, Damon, and Jimmy, thank you for helping keep the ice rink frozen when mother nature worked against us. Between the mood swings of 75 degrees and 40mph gusts of wind to 8 inches of snow we definitely had our work cut out for us. Simon, it was one of the best hockey seasons yet, having your knowledge and hockey experience to help guide CC hockey to the next level has been the best decision. Wendy, with your help and coaches another Ice Show that all members and children enjoyed was executed flawlessly. Finally to Marisa, thank you for the 7 years of hard work and dedication to the club. The vision and expertise of dance choreography have definitely helped push the Ice Show to the next level. Good luck to you in your future endeavors. You will be missed and your shoes will be hard to fill, but as you've said before, "the show must go on... " Sincerely, Bret

2022 Figure Skating Seniors
The Carriage Club’s Figure Skating Club has witnessed a fantastic 2021-2022 season. Marissa Callaway and Wendy David Figure Skating Directors did an amazing job this season along with their staff. This season eleven CC skaters competed for the first time in the competition. They each performed individual programs with their music. Everyone skated great and they all came away with medals or ribbons. Wendy David, Figure Skating Director, organized the Carriage Club skaters for the first time and hopes it is an annual event. "I was very proud of our skaters in their wonderful performances as well as their sportsmanship in cheering each other on." This year’s ice show “From Sea to Shining Sea” was amazing and the Thursday night show with the snow dropping in the background was like a Hallmark movie. Friday nights showcased our graduating seniors and their dedication to the wonderful sport of figure skating. All our skaters left everything they had on the ice, and we loved watching them grow and skate to the wonderfully choreographed routines. Congratulations to our Senior Skaters as they skated their last time in the Ice Show with Carriage Club. Thank you for all your hard work and dedication we wish you well in your future endeavors. We hope to see you around the ice next season.
