Summer 2014: ROCK ON! Theme: “Rock On!” Week at a glance: Day 1: Who do you say I am? Day 2: Jesus is God with us Day 3: Jesus is Friend Day 4: Jesus is Teacher Day 5: Jesus is Healer Day 6: Rock On!
I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world! John 16:33 Focus: Throughout their week at camp, campers will get to know who Jesus is, and who we are through Jesus. In a world with never-ending technology and social media, it’s easy to lose our identity – but with Jesus as our Rock, we will learn that we are able to serve, love, and forgive freely. After discovering who Jesus is throughout the week, campers are called to Rock On! With Jesus as our Rock, we are called to live out the teachings of Jesus and find our own role in discipleship. Rock On!

1) Cut Butternut Squash in half and discard seeds & stringy pulp. Brush with olive oil and roast at 375° for 30 minutes or until squash pierces easily with a fork. Set aside for 30 minutes to cool. Using a spoon, scoop out the flesh of the squash and discard the remaining skin. 2) Place apples, onion, carrot, celery & garlic in a 1 ½ gallon stock pot with olive oil. Sauté until onions turn translucent. Add chicken stock, red pepper, nutmeg, paprika, brown sugar & butternut squash. Simmer for 20 minutes. 3) Add heavy cream. Combine butter and flour and whisk until smooth, then add to bisque. Puree all ingredients until bisque is smooth and has a light sheen to the surface. Cook on low heat for 5 minutes longer, then remove from heat. Adjust seasoning with salt & pepper as needed.
