WELCOME

I

’m very excited to bring you the January Issue of our IH Magazine, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it! In case

you’re new to Imtiaz Hussain Designs, I’ll take a moment to introduce myself. I’m an interior designer with a passion for bringing my clients’ visions to life. I think design is a lot like storytelling: my aim is to create an evocative story from colour, texture, pattern, and form. Every project is a unique exploration of my client’s personality and aspirations. “I love what I do.” I think any interior can be transformed into a place of beauty and soul. Luxury design needn’t be exclusive. It’s something everyone has the right to enjoy. And that’s the ethos behind IH Magazine: I wanted to share some insights, products and ideas to help you create a beautiful home whatever your taste and whatever your budget. So here we have it - I hope you enjoy everything this issue has to offer as we discover the latest trends and style tips. Take a look around the Luxury Serviced Accommodation I’ve recently refurbished. Please feel free to email me at imtiaz@imtiazhussaindesigns.com with feature ideas, brands you’d like to see, or people you’d like to see interviewed – this, after all, is your magazine, designed to help you. We’ve also created a dedicated Facebook page for the magazine. We’d love you to follow and leave any comments – we’re always happy to hear from you.

Imtiaz

Thank you so much for reading, See you on the 3rd of February.

DESIGN TIPS

THE BENEFITS OF A MOOD BOARD & HOW TO CREATE ONE Creating a mood board might be a completely new concept to you but it is one that you should definitely take notice of. A mood board is a great way of gaining an understanding of what you want to achieve and what it will involve and so, creating one will require you to thinking about every aspect of the design. Whether you are overhauling a bedroom, adding some inspirational touches to your hallway or completely redesigning your home from top to bottom, a mood board can help you have a clear vision of what the end goal will be. So, what are the benefits of a mood board?

1

THEY CREATE A STRONG PLATFORM FOR CREATIVITY Once the project has been set in motion, a mood board will become the basics of what you really want to achieve and how it will all come together. A mood board will contain ideas of what might work collectively in terms of colours, shades, flooring, lighting and more. It makes it possible for you to take a holistic approach to design based on a strong foundation from which your project can really gather momentum.

DESIGN TIPS

2

THEY CONFIRM THE OVERALL VISION Most projects begin with a clear vision in mind but once they begin to move forward and progress, you can often lose sight of what the overall vision is and the look you wanted to create. If you opt to design a mood board it will give you a reference or a reminder of where you want to go and how to get there. It can feed into the small decisions that you need to make, all of which play a part in reaching the end goal.

3

THEY PROVIDE A LEVEL OF UNDERSTANDING Whether you are undertaking the project on your own or whether you have brought someone in to do it for you, a mood board provides a visual guide that informs and guides. It illustrates a concept and brings ideas to life while also making it simple to bring different features together. Mood boards create a clear brief of what is expected and how to get there which is exactly why they are perfect for any interior design project.

DESIGN TIPS

4

ENHANCE EFFICIENCY

If you begin a project without any clear guidance then you are going to get lost. Trying to keep a project on track while working on what you want and how to get there will only take more time. The mood board provides the perfect outlet for precise organisation and planning. You can formulate ideas, discuss designs and looks and ultimately get to where you want to be a lot quicker than you would if you did not have one.

5

THEY ARE ADAPTABLE While it is always a good idea to try and have everything in place before the project begins to gather momentum, a mood board can be adapted. So, as the project progresses, you might find that a certain element of the board no longer works for you or you might have found something better. As long as you have no implemented that idea then you can chop and change as much as possible.

PROJECT

A property in Gateshead

is restored to create A HIGH-END

CO-LIVING SPAGE

FOR PROFESSIONAL TENANTS Our client had acquired a large property in Gateshead and wanted to restore it into an upmarket co-living space with 5 bedrooms. He approached us to create a fresh and contemporary design for the property that would appeal to the lifestyle and tastes of discerning tenants. 08

IMTIAZ HUSSAIN INTERIOR DESIGN

PROJECT

Our main challenge was to give the space a cohesive feel throughout, while ensuring each room had its own individual charm with personal touches to make tenants feel at home.

We chose a fresh, natural colour palette of greens and neutral earth tones for the whole property, and opted to give each room a unique variation of the palette. IMTIAZ HUSSAIN INTERIOR DESIGN

09

PROJECT

We created a room with soft greens and bright creamy neutrals for a soothing but uplifting atmosphere; for another room we chose mossgreen tones, rich browns and copper accents for a cosy autumnal feel, and for another we created a sophisticated, modern design with a vibrant pop of forest green offset by sleek grey and soft beige.

10

IMTIAZ HUSSAIN INTERIOR DESIGN

PROJECT

Our design plays on a lively contrast of texture and pattern throughout, giving depth and interest to each room. We incorporated natural elements to create an inviting feel, including rustic wooden finishes. Warm metallics brighten the space and add a touch of glamour.

Each room features luxe bedding and soft furnishings to maximise tenants’ comfort. We added personal touches and accessories to make every room unique, including signature artwork and accent lighting. We created the design with careful attention to layout, preserving space and maximising storage to suit professional tenants’ lifestyles. IMTIAZ HUSSAIN INTERIOR DESIGN

11

PROJECT

Our client was thrilled with the design, which elevated the property’s value and appealed to the market for desirable, high-end accommodation. We hope you’ve enjoyed this tour of our latest project.

Do you like this natural colour palette? Is it something you’d like to see in your own home? Let us know! We’d love to hear from you.

Set aside an hour or two to get it organised. Empty corner or bare stretch of wall? Fill it with handy shelves or a beautiful art print. Then, step back and enjoy the results.

Make room for a new hobby Planning to start a creative project this year? Carve out a space in your home that’s dedicated to your new hobby. You don’t need a whole room – with a bit of ingenuity, you can create a hobby area from the smallest of spaces. Think a fold-away writing desk framed with floating shelves, or a comfy chair with a pretty basket filled with wool and needles for crocheting, like these baskets from The Holding Company.

Team your warm neutrals with magenta or navy for a chic modern look.
