WELCOME

I

’m very excited to bring you the February Issue of our IH Magazine, and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it! In case

you’re new to Imtiaz Hussain Designs, I’ll take a moment to introduce myself.

I’m an interior designer with a passion for bringing my clients’ visions to life. I think design is a lot like storytelling: my aim is to create an evocative story from colour, texture, pattern, and form. Every project is a unique exploration of my client’s personality and aspirations. “I love what I do.”

I think any interior can be transformed into a place of beauty and soul.

Luxury design needn’t be exclusive. It’s something everyone has the right to enjoy. And that’s the ethos behind IH Magazine: I wanted to share some insights, products and ideas to help you create a beautiful home whatever your taste and whatever your budget.

So here we have it - I hope you enjoy everything this issue has to offer as we discover the latest trends and style tips. Take a look around the Luxury Serviced Accommodation I’ve recently refurbished.

A COTTAGE 1

COTTAGE ​

Creating a unique cottage interior is all about making use of the correct lighting in corners of the room. Along with this, a character can be injected through choosing patterned textiles such as florals or tartans while traditional muted heritage colours are also a great addition. Of course, cottage homes have a warm and welcome feel to them, something which is achieved through rugs that introduce a cosy feel. Often, a wood burning stove is the focal point of the room while exposed bricks and low beams can give a room a true cottage feel.

MEDITERRANEAN​ This popular style continues to hold its own and it is a look that really does maximise the feel and space of any room. As traditional throughout most Mediterranean homes, you should expect to see tiled floors, shiny surfaces and touches of authentic, ornate wooden furniture. The earthy tones will give it a distinctly Mediterranean feel while the introduction of marble and terracotta ornaments can really transform any room and give it a real Mediterranean style.

FUNKY​ Seeking that funky look and feel within any room is all about finding that perfect blend of colours, features and furniture. When you think of funky colours, you should be considering bold colours and splashes of vibrant colours to bring the room to life. Seamlessly bringing these colours together requires the use of artdeco pieces or abstract art while furniture can come as a mixture of traditional, quirky and unique. You can include ornamental pieces that capture the imagination while soft furnishings can be added throughout the room. Creating this design style is about finding the right blend and ensuring that you do not cross the line into the realms of eclectic or modern.

BEACH HOUSE​ Creating a beach house style is all about creating space and allowing the light to flow throughout the room. Therefore, you should be looking for cool, neutral shades that work seamlessly with blues and greens. These airy colours enhance the feeling of space while beige furnishings and element of wood that take inspiration from the sea are an absolute must. Traditionally, blue and white striped soft furnishings such as rugs, pillow and sofas create that beach feel while natural stone or pebbles can inject that feeling of true inspiration. The aim is to create an environment that is relaxed yet comfortable.

FARM HOUSE​ The farmhouse design style is quirky yet traditional in its basic form. However, here you can find an eclectic blend of colour, with dark, earthy hues forming the basis of what should be homely yet inviting feel to any room. You should expect to see hard wooden floors or tiled floors with shabby looking rugs or and a random mixture of ornaments and plants dotted throughout. Exposed brickwork is a must if possible while stylish yet classic vases will always steal the show. Farmhouse furniture is dark in colour and often consists of pine or oak while distressed wood and upholstered linen is the mainstay in all farmhouses.

Our client approached us to transform the design of their Nottingham new-build residence. They felt the current design didn’t reflect their personal style, and wanted a space that was elegant and sophisticated, but also warm and relaxing; a place they could feel truly at home.

We worked closely with our client to identify key colours, shapes and themes that embodied their vision for the room.

With these in mind we developed a unique concept: a sleek, contemporary style infused with elements of Art Deco flair.

We chose a highcontrast colour palette, opting for a backdrop of pale neutrals that would accentuate the strong geometric lines of our dark charcoal and pewter furnishings.

We devised a layout for the room that emphasises symmetry and promotes relaxation.

Our design plays on a range of textures to give the space depth and visual interest, with matte furniture offset by shimmering accessories, and gorgeous luxury marble-effect wallcoverings which are flattered with ambient lighting.

A statement faceted mirror in the Deco style enhances the airy, spacious feel, while sophisticated artwork on other walls gives a pleasing balance to the space.

As a nod to the Deco influence we chose a streamlined, retro-inspired sofa and added tactile soft furnishings for a luxurious atmosphere.
