It is no secret that Hugh Chatham Health is among the top leaders in its industry for providing outstanding healthcare. Some may argue that it is the best in the area. Recent recognitions, growth in healthcare options, and continuous support from partnering agencies are reflective of the impact the healthcare system and its staff have had on the community.
An independent, not-for-profit community healthcare network, Hugh Chatham Health is an 81-bed acute care hospital that may be small in stature, but delivers high quality, convenient, one-on-one healthcare to residents occupying the Yadkin Valley region of North Carolina and parts of Virginia.
Hugh Chatham Health’s 1,000 team members includes 70 providers — covering 29 locations and six counties. The hospital, whose headquarters rests in Elkin, has been both locally and nationally recognized for patient satisfaction, safety, and clinical quality.

Recently, Hugh Chatham Health was named one of America’s “Best Hospitals for Obstetrics” by the Women’s Choice Award, America’s trusted referral source for the best in healthcare. Out of 4,729 hos- pitals who offer obstetrics, Hugh Chatham Health ranks in the top 10%. The Women’s Choice Award is a resource available to women and serves as a guide for where to receive the best care, focusing on high quality patient experiences.
The methodology for the “Best Hospitals for Obstetrics” combines national accreditations, Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) and hospital outcome scores with primary research about women’s healthcare preferences.
