Students: Apply for an all-expenses-paid trip to Cooperative Leadership Camp this summer

The annual Cooperative Leadership Camp in Laurel Hill, North Carolina, is a full-week overnight camp designed to provide an exciting experience for high-school students, concentrating on the cooperative way of doing business in a free enterprise society. The camp helps students develop leadership skills and qualities in our future community leaders, while gaining a better understanding and appreciation for cooperatives.

Approximately 50–70 teens from all parts of the state are sponsored to attend for free by local cooperatives. The program is an experiential learning process where the teens build a worker/owner tee shirt cooperative, elect a board, hire a general manager, design, and produce T-shirts. They learn about leadership, governance, and the 7 cooperative business principles during the entire process.

Each year, the camp includes a ceremony recognizing the campers who demonstrate outstanding leadership qualities. Five campers are selected to receive Leadership Awards for their unique leadership abilities and receive an expense-paid trip to the National Institute on Co-op Education at Virginia Tech University.
