Photo Contest Winners

Thank you to everyone who entered the 2023 Member Photo Contest! The judges had the challenging task of choosing from more than 70 photos of Hatteras Island.

Congratulations to our first place winner Ken Newman for his photo titled “Heavenly Lights”. Ken took this picture of the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on a classic “starry-starry night” in Buxton. The camera and beacon timing came together perfectly to light the Milky Way galaxy in the background. Ken’s photo will be featured on the cover of our Annual Report, which will be distributed in May.

Our second place winner is Michele Borgarelli for her photo titled “Sunset on the Pamlico Sound”. Michele’s photo captures the Hatteras/Ocracoke ferry during a beautiful sunset voyage.

The third place winner is Deborah Bennett for her photo titled “Sea Eye”. Deborah’s up-close photo of a wave in Hatteras had the judges thinking about summer beach days.

These three photos, along with nine other entries from the contest will be featured in our 2024 Member Calendar, available at our Annual Meeting in May.

Official Notice: Annual Meeting of Members

The 2023 Annual Meeting of Members will take place at Cape Hatteras Secondary School 48576 NC Highway 12, Buxton, NC 27920

Monday, May 22, 7:00 P.M. (Registration/Dinner at 6:00 P.M.)

Items to be discussed:

1. Reports of officers, directors and committees;

2. Announcement of elected directors;

3. Transaction of other business brought before the meeting, or any adjournment thereof.

Election ballots and a return envelope will be mailed to members the first week of April. Biographies for the nominees will appear on a separate sheet enclosed with the ballots. Official ballots must be return-mailed to CHEC, Credentials and Elections Committee, PO Box 281, Avon, NC 27915, by May 1.
