Local nonprofits receive $16,500 through memberowner Operation RoundUp contributions
With the help of its member-owners, Roanoke Electric Co-op awarded $16,500 in grant funding to support five community programs and services. At their January quarterly meeting, the co-op’s Care Trust Board designated financial assistance for the following nonprofit organizations:
1 Union Rural Fire Dept. of Hertford County (Ahoskie): Awarded $5,000 for the purchase of extrication gloves for members, to perform maintenance and repair of extrication tools and pumps, to purchase hydraulic hose and fittings, and to perform maintenance and repair of generators to provide extrication to the Union Fire District.
2Town of Aulander (Aulander): Awarded $3,000 to improve the Aulander Fitness Trail in purchasing additional picnic tables and park benches.

Ballers Parks and Recreations (Halifax): Awarded $5,000 to cover requirements for three teams to participate in the 2023 AAU Basketball season.
Operation RoundUp allows memberowners to round up their electric bills to the next highest dollar each month to help charitable program initiatives in the community. Grants are allocated quarterly.

Cultivator, Inc. (Murfreesboro): Awarded $2,000 to cover food, supplies/materials, transportation, and staffing for their Freedom Summer Camp in July.
Local nonprofits are encouraged to apply for grant funding. To be considered for the next quarter, applications must be submitted by 5 p.m., June 28.

Bertie County Relay for Life (Aulander): Awarded $1,500 for the upcoming Relay For Life event in Bertie County on May 19.
