Haywood EMC Supports Volunteer Fire Departments Throughout 2021, Haywood EMC supported the Volunteer Fire Departments in our service territory. In May, Fines Creek and Crabtree-Ironduff Volunteer Fire Departments requested help from the cooperative to purchase new equipment and for maintenance costs on an old VFD building. Fines Creek VFD Board Secretary Betty Heatherly said, “These funds will be used to help with needed maintenance on our youth center.”

The money requested from CrabtreeIronduff VFD “will be used for the purchase of a new rescue saw that we will use in our response to calls,” said Asst. Chief Tyrell Mehaffey. Haywood EMC also contributed funds to Lake Logan-Cecil VFD for the purchase of new smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to install in homes around the community. Cruso VFD and Rescue received support to purchase new radios for their UTVs. In appreciation for the fire departments’ assistance during outages and emergency work for our members, Haywood EMC was glad to return the favor with a small grant at each fire department. Haywood EMC is always proud to support our local volunteer fire departments who are always watching out for those in our community.

Haywood EMC Employees Support the Salvation Army in the 2021 Christmas Season HEMC employees proudly support members of our community, and during the Christmas season, our employees are in the giving spirit. The employees supported The Salvation Army by providing gifts to 43 children in our communities through the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Christmas program. Haywood EMC’s Support for the United Way As strong advocates for the United Way, Haywood EMC participated again in 2021’s Day of Caring in September. HEMC employees and contractors helped two member-owners in need of help around their homes, removing trees and limbs at one house, while repairing gutters, replacing and repairing concrete stairs, staining a wooden ramp, along with additional projects at another member’s home.

Because of our strong partnership with the United Way, each year we aim to raise funds through an annual fundraiser for the United Way. During this year’s campaign, Haywood EMC employees gave funds to assist several members through agencies supported by the United Way.
