Accessibility
Most adult trips are accessible, however, participants using walkers or wheelchairs should confirm the trip location’s accessibility in advance. Use the Activity Key as a guide when determining if a program suits your capabilities. Indicate any accommodation requests on your registration form. Front bus seating may be reserved in advance for those with applicable medical special needs only. Participants requesting front of bus seating should arrive fifteen minutes prior to departure time. Pick-Up Location
The park district bus picks up at Simkus Recreation Center, 849 West Lies Road, unless otherwise noted. Meet in the lobby by the north east entrance.
Departure Times
Departure times listed for each trip reflect the time when the bus departs. Always arrive five to ten minutes early in order to check in and board the bus. Seating is first come, first served. Specific individual seats are not reserved for participants. See Accessibility section if you have a medical need that requires specific seating.
Payments
Registrants are required to either pay in full or enroll in a payment plan and complete an Automatic Payment Request form at the time of registration. If enrolling in a payment plan, payments for trips are withdrawn from the account listed on the Automatic Payment Request form on the payment due date for each trip. If a due date has passed, you may still enroll in the trip if space is available, payment is then due at registration. Enroll in the waitlist for a trip any time at no fee.
Trip Cancellations
Withdrawals should be requested prior to the payment deadline. If you can no longer attend after the deadline, withdrawals are only processed if a participant on the waitlist takes your spot or if you find a replacement. There is no guarantee that a waitlist replacement can be found after the due date has passed. If a friend is taking your place on the trip, a signed waiver and payment are due before your withdrawal can be processed. Passengers not on our roster are not permitted to attend. This five-week educational dog class will not only work your dog's obedience but also teach you how to recognize, manage, and change behaviors before they become undesirable. You and your furry friend will learn how to walk on leash properly, sit, down, stay, place, come and stand for a veterinary exam. This class is for dogs five months and older. First class there are no dogs as we will have a Q&A session along with going over the first week's homework assignment. Ballet 1
Ballet for beginning level dancers. This class focuses on basic ballet techniques, with traditional barre, and center work. Rhythms and patterns are taught through repetitive combinations and musical awareness.
Ballet 2
Ballet 2 focuses on arm position, direction of body and increased movement vocabulary. Students must advance or be assessed in order to register for this level.
Ballet 3
Students continue to develop extension as well as more advanced barre and center work. Single pirouettes and grande allergro are introduced. Must be advanced by an instructor in order to register for Ballet 3.

Little Dancers
Toddlers twirl and turn while being introduced to ballet, music and moves to increase motor skills. Dancers are without parent(s) as they dance to music aimed to build independence and self-confidence.
Twirling Tots Dance
Dance class designed for boys and girls new to dance, along with a parent or caregiver. Focus on dance movement, hand-eye coordination and basic dance techniques that are great for early childhood development.
Young Ballerinas
Little dancers are introduced to the structure of a ballet class, basic etiquette, terminology, feet and arm position as well as posture. These preballet classes are less formal and incorporate props and dance games for young attention spans.
Dance Mix
This class is perfect for new dancers! Basic steps and technique are introduced for hip hop, jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, musical theatre, and poms. Purchasing dance shoes for this class is not necessary.
Irish Dance
Discover the tradition and intricate choreography of Irish dance! Learn Step dancing and group dances. Beginner and intermediate dancers are welcome.

Forte and Storm seasons run from fall through spring. Teams compete in two local competitions and perform at the Holiday Dance Showcase, Spring Recital, and community events. Storm also performs at several CSPD youth basketball games.

Extended care is available for parents needing additional care for their preschooler. Preschoolers enjoy cooperative play, story time and variety of craft and STEAM activities led by our preschool staff.

Gymnastics Level 1

Gymnastics Level 2

Fountain View Recreation Center is the perfect venue for birthdays, receptions, showers, graduation, sweet sixteen parties or any special occasion. With scenic views, access to the outdoor patio and integrated AV equipment, this is the perfect place for your party or meeting. The banquet room can accommodate 160 people and can be split into two or three individual rooms and a variety of room set up options. Our upgraded outdoor patio can be a wonderful addition to your room rental. Patio is available April 1 - October 31. Inquire about additional amenities for banquet rooms and patio.

Host a smaller gathering at the Simkus Recreation Center. Room 3 is the perfect place for a party, bridal shower, baby shower, graduation or holiday event. This room holds up to 60 people and includes a refrigerator/freezer, sink, and countertop area. This site also features closer parking for you and your guests.

Simkus Recreation Center Playground & Turf Area
A fenced-in playground is located on the west side of the Simkus Recreation Center. A large multi-age play structure is surrounded by a pour-in-place rubber surface that mimics a little roadway. Included in the play area is a 20-yard artificial turf field for open play and small sports programs. The surface and amenities are designed to offer greater mobility for all visitors. Consider this private play area for your next rental or birthday party.

Registration
Advanced registration of seven days is required before your child's first attendance day. A minimum of four weeks' notice is required if your child needs one-on-one assistance from a WDSRA support staff. An automatic payment request form is required for all enrollments. Completion of e-PACT information is required prior to attending the Before & After School program. Returning participants must reconfirm all e-PACT information. If requesting registration within seven days, supervisor approval is required and a $5 enrollment change/late registration fee per child is charged. However last minute changes cannot always be accommodated.
Payment
A $70 nonrefundable enrollment fee and your first month’s payment are due at registration. All subsequent payments are drafted one month in advance from August-May. First scheduled payment is August 1. Payments vary from month to month based on the number of attendance days. Payment amounts & draft dates are listed on your receipt. Lack of payment will jeopardize participation in the program. View the parent handbook for additional policies and procedures.
Schedules
Enrollment can begin at any time. Participants must sign up for the same schedule for the entire school year. Individual date selections are not permitted, however daily flex passes for occasional care are available. New enrollments, schedule changes, and withdrawals requested less than seven days in advance require supervisor approval and a late registration/enrollment change fee to be paid per child. A fee is applied for all schedule changes after the initial registration.

ActivKids Before & After Care is for students at CCSD93 schools in kindergarten through 5th grade. Participants enjoy games, crafts, sports, free play and time outside, as the weather allows, along with optional homework time.

Early release days are being held on 1/14, 3/4, 4/22, and 5/20. The Activkids program will begin at 12:00pm on these days. If those days are not part of a participant’s regular schedule, a flex pass can be purchased for any day care is needed.

School Closing & Program Cancellations
If CCSD93 announces an unscheduled late start, early dismissal, cancellation of all before/after school activities, or closes for any reason including weather, or emergency due to unforeseen circumstances, ActivKids Before and After School will also be canceled or closed. No credits are issued for these days. Fees are subject to change If additional school days get added. Fees will be applied accordingly.
Daily flex passes are available for occasional care.Just register for the individual dates your child will attend. Seven days advanced registration is required. Emergency flex passes may be available for an additional $5,pending approval.
SCHOOL YEAR CARE - DAYS OFF CLUB

Participants enjoy field trips, special events and theme days with crafts, games and sports. Open to students of all school districts. Before and after care also offered. Register 72 hours in advance to receive the best rates. Emergency information is required in ePACT prior to participation.

Jump into medieval times and explore the land of castles, princesses, knights and dragons. Boys and girls alike will enjoy this exciting workshop filled with adventure. A large scene will be created of mystical castle and a fiery dragon full of detail and color.
Double the Fun Drawing (Young Rembrandts)

Improve your volleyball skills with drills in setting, passing, overhand serving and spiking. The lesson plan directs the use of individual training, pairing drills and game situation development.

Carol Stream Travel Softball and Baseball Association
CSTSBA offers a skill developing and competitive travel baseball and softball experience for boys and girls ages 9-15. Cougars baseball teams compete in the West Suburban Baseball League (WSBL) along with various tournaments in the area. Storm softball teams compete in various leagues and tournaments. Tryouts for both baseball & softball are held each year in July. Check our website for details and email CSTSBA if you’re interested in joining or coaching.

Carol Stream Youth Travel Basketball Association
CSYTBA offers a competitive travel basketball program for boys and girls grades 4th through 8th grade. Boy’s teams compete in the DuPage Youth Travel Basketball Leagues (DYTBL) and girls compete in the West Suburban Girls Basketball League (WSGBL). In addition to league play each team competes in various tournaments in the area. Tryouts are held each year in September, check the website for details. CSPSC offers a competitive travel soccer program for U8-U15 with boys and girls teams competing in Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL). Young Sportsman’s Soccer League (YSSL), and Illinois Women’s Soccer League (IWSL). Tryouts for the fall, winter and spring season are held in May with a one-year commitment. SWIM ACADEMY - YOUTH
Parent Tot Ages 6 months-3 years
Parents help teach their little swimmers comfort in the water. Instruction includes water adjustment, entering/exiting water, putting face in water, blowing bubbles, supported front/back kicks, assisted floating and jumping with assistance.
Paddlers 1 Ages 3-5
These swimmers are brand new to swimming without their parents. They learn to enter/exit water with confidence. Instruction includes supported front/back floats, bubble blowing, getting their face wet, alternation of arms, front/back kicks, back glide, back glide with kicks, and water safety skills. Kick boards and noodles used as aides. Lessons conducted in 1-3 feet of water.
Paddlers 2 Ages 3-5
These swimmers are a little more comfortable in the water. Instruction includes unsupported front/back float, fully submerged face and head underwater, blowing bubbles, alternation of arms, front/back kick, back glide, back glide with kick, and water safety skills. Noodles used as aides. Must complete Paddlers 1 or confirmation from Supervisor prior to entering Paddlers 2. Lessons conducted in 3-4 feet of water.
Level 1 Ages 6-12

Level 2 Ages 6-12
Swimmers continue to refine skills learned in Level 1 while learning new skills such as turnovers, object retrieval, and side breathing. This class is taught in the lap pool. Must complete Level 1 or confirmation from Supervisor prior to entering Level 2.

Level 3 Ages 6-12
Swimmers continue to refine skills learned in Level 1 and 2 while incorporating rotary breathing techniques. Using the entire length of lap pool, swimmers practice deep water skills, stroke technique, endurance training and diving basics are introduced. Must complete Level 2 or confirmation from Supervisor prior to entering Level 3.

Level 4 Ages 6-12
Swimmers learn advanced skill strokes such as breast stroke, elementary backstroke and open wall turns. Basic diving, retrieval of underwater objects, treading water, endurance and water safety is taught. Must complete Level 3 or confirmation from Supervisor prior to entering Level 4.
Level 5 Ages 6-12
Swimmers refine advanced strokes such as breast stroke, butterfly, and learn flip-turns. Endurance is focused on stroked and treading water. Advanced water safety is taught. Must complete Level 4 or confirmation from Supervisor prior to entering Level 5.
Level 6 Ages 6-12
Swimmers refine all strokes to swim with more ease and power. Prepares swimmers for advanced aquatic activities like competitive swimming. Must be able to swim all strokes for 25 yards and tread water for 2 minutes before entering level 6.
SWIM ACADEMY - ADULT & TEEN
Adult & Teen – Introduction to Swimming Ages 13+
Build the foundation for safe swimming while gaining confidence and comfort in the water. Learn essential skills such as breathing techniques, floating, and submerging. The fundamentals of freestyle and backstroke are introduced.
Adult & Teen – Intermediate Swimming Ages 13+
Develop and refine basic swim strokes, including freestyle and backstroke.


Adult & Teen – Advanced Swimming Ages 13+
Improve endurance, pace, and stroke proficiency. Swimmers must already be skilled in freestyle, backstroke, and breaststroke. Butterfly and flip turns are also introduced. Participants must be approved by a coach to register for this level, after mastery of Intermediate Swimming class skills.
