INSTRUCTOR SPOTLIGHT: Erica House

Erica House never envisioned a position teaching French at the Carnegie Center, and was thrilled when she was recruited to join the Carnegie team seven years ago Erica teaches five levels to adults and one level to children Her classes are challenging, accessible, and fun, and she meets students at their level Erica creates a comfortable and compassionate space for students of all ages, backgrounds, and nationalities to learn while gently encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone.

Her classes have grown in popularity over the years. Because Erica loves the art of connection, she appreciates facilitating friendships that have extended beyond the classroom setting. To date, Erica has been teaching and tutoring French for 25 years Her favorite French word is “papillon,” meaning “butterfly ”

When she is not teaching French at the Carnegie Center, you can find Erica teaching Yoga at “breathe” or offering private French instruction while sipping tea in local cafés. She also leads one annual retreat to France and possibly to other francophone countries in the future. She lives what she loves, and she would love to help you start or continue your French-speaking journey
