WORLD BIODIVERSITY DAY HIKE

Join staff on a guided walk through Central Park for World Biodiversity Day - a United Nations-sanctioned day that brings awareness to the threats to biodiversity. POLLINATOR PALOOZA

Celebrate National Pollinator Week with us! What are pollinators? Butterflies, bats and even small mammals all do their part in pollinating flowers. Without these important species, the numerous plants that live in our prairies (both showy and beautiful, but also ecologically beneficial) would not exist. Join us for catch and release with nets as we explore which pollinators live in Central Park and discover some of their favorite blooms.

CITIZEN SCIENCE PRE-REQUISITE: HOOSIER RIVERWATCH

This program is designed for anyone interested in becoming a Hoosier Riverwatch volunteer. Volunteers participate by taking chemical and physical measurements of water and by exploring stream bottoms for the key invertebrate species that indicate water quality. This program includes a classroom setting training and an outdoor, real-life application of your newly acquired skills. Come prepared with your water shoes! Once completed, you will be eligible to sign up as a Citizen Science: Hoosier Riverwatch volunteer where your collected data goes towards managing our parks’ waterways and towards groups or individuals protecting water resources in the state of Indiana.

Designed for experienced swimmers who are ready to take their skills to the next level! Instructors will help swimmers perfect their technique in all four competitive strokes as well as, guide them through workouts to build their endurance in the water. LIFEGUARDING: BLENDED LE ARNING

Learn life-saving skills, in and out of the water. This blended learning course combines online learning and in-person skills training. Completion of this week-long online course and two day in-person skills training will earn you an American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR/AED/First Aid for the Professional Rescuer certification. Participants must be able to attend all scheduled classes for the session and complete the online portion before the start of the scheduled class dates.

Enjoy an adults-only (21+) night of fun at The Waterpark afterhours! Relax in the lazy river, sip wine in the cabanas, ride the wave on the FlowRider® and more. ADULT/PEDIATRIC FIRST AID, CPR, AND AED

Gain the knowledge and skills necessary to act in emergency situations. Led by our experience staff, this American Red Cross course teaches you how to recognize and care for life-threatening respiratory or cardiac emergencies in adults, children and infants. Participants will be able to give care in an emergency, help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. Those who successfully complete this course receive an American Red Cross certification in First Aid, CPR and AED.

Splish, splash, we’re having a bash! You and your preschooler are invited for a morning of fun at The Waterpark! We’re having a party with the little kiddos while the big kids are back in school. DRAWING, PAINTING, & SKETCHING

Jump into our creative programs with artist Zach Lowe and watch yourself turn into an artist! You will learn how to create the perfect piece of artwork while working with a wide variety of different mediums and materials. Each program will offer different techniques and concepts while making sure you leave with a unique finished product.

If you have a creative and crafty side, then this is the perfect program for you! Join us for the chance to capture unique moments through the art of photography and scrapbooking. OPEN FLOW

Catch a wave on the only surf simulator in Indiana! The Flowrider® is an alternative board sport experience that incorporates elements of surfing, body boarding and wakeboarding. Staff can adapt instruction for anyone to ride the wave. All ability levels are welcome to participate. Must be 48 inches to ride and 52 inches to stand.

Catch a wave on the only surf simulator in Indiana! The Flowrider® is an alternative board sport experience that incorporates elements of surfing, body boarding and wakeboarding. Learn basic skateboarding techniques and skills in these group lessons. Skaters will practice balance, pushing, carving and even some tricks! Skaters must provide own skateboard and safety equipment. Helmets required. Pads recommended.

YOUTH ARCHERY

Take the first step in hitting the bullseye in our archery class! You will get hands-on experience with a bow and arrow alongside our experienced archery instructors. In this class you will learn archery commands, proper stance, safety and technique. Please wear closed-toe shoes. Beginners will be trained using a recurve bow.

BEGINNER PICKLEBALL

Try a new sport this season! Pickleball combines elements of badminton, tennis and table tennis! Learn rules, strategies and techniques. Please wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Loaner paddles and pickleballs are provided.

INTERMEDIATE PICKLEBALL

Think you know your way around a pickleball paddle? In Intermediate Pickleball, our instructors will help you fine-tune your pickleball skills, as well as share inside tips and tricks to help you dominate the court. Participants must have previously completed Beginner Pickleball or have 25-30 hours of court time. Loaner paddles and pickleballs are provided.

Join us for pickleball drop-in play. Drop-in play is free for Monon Community Center members. Non-members are welcome to purchase a day pass to participate.

INTRO TO PICKLEBALL WORKSHOP

Want to learn to play pickleball, but don’t know where to start? This introductory class will teach you the basics of this fun sport. You will be introduced to the basic rules of the game. Wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Loaner paddles and pickleballs are provided.

PICKLEBALL LADDER LEAGUE

The Co-Ed Pickleball Ladder League format is designed to create new matchups each week and have players play with players of similar skill levels. Weekly rankings are based on performance. Players will move up or down the ladder based on wins/losses (not points scored). Each week, players will start in groups of four in the order of ladder ranking. After each game to 11, the winning partnership will move up the ladder and the losing partnership will move down. Partners swap each game. There is a maximum of three wins each league night. After a maximum of five games per team have been played, open play is allowed for the remainder of the time slot when courts are available. Top two players will get free enrollment to the next season of the league. No class 7/1.

CITIZEN SCIENCE PRE-REQUISITE: RIVERWATCH

This program is designed for anyone interested in becoming a Hoosier Riverwatch volunteer. Volunteers participate by taking chemical and physical measurements of water and by exploring stream bottoms for the key invertebrate species that indicate water quality. This program includes a classroom setting training and an outdoor, real-life application of your newly acquired skills. Come prepared with your water shoes! Once completed, you will be eligible to sign up as a Citizen Science: Hoosier Riverwatch volunteer where your collected data goes towards managing our parks’ waterways and towards groups or individuals protecting water resources in the state of Indiana.

30 MINUTE TAI CHI INTRODUCTION

Get in your 30 minutes of recommended daily exercise as you experience the health and wellness benefits of Tai Chi. The class begins with mindful breathing and a series of gentle warm-ups. You’ll then follow the instructor step-by-step through a flowing, easy to learn “Tai Chi for Life” routine designed to improve balance and flexibility, increase muscle strength and bone density, burn calories, and reduce stress.

PROGRAM REFUND POLICY (excludes ESE)

If a class is cancelled by Carmel Clay Parks & Recreation, a full refund or a make-up class will be given. For any other reason, a Refund Request may be filled out and submitted a minimum of three weeks from the respective start date to receive a 100% refund, less a $10 service charge. All refunds are subject to the State Board of Accounts claim procedure and may take three to four weeks. Refunds may be issued in the form of a check. If you were transferred into the program you are requesting to cancel, you will receive a refund via check.
