GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT

Join us for the Great Backyard Bird Count, a global citizen science project run by the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and National Audubon Society that invites people of all ages to observe and record birds in their local communities. Held each February, the count helps scientists track changes in bird populations, migration patterns, and overall ecosystem health. During this global event, volunteers will receive a short training on birdwatching basics, including how to identify common species and use binoculars effectively. Then, we’ll head out into our parks to put those skills into action, collecting real data that contributes to an international database used by researchers around the world. No experience is needed, just a love of nature and a willingness to learn! Volunteers under 16 years will require the supervision of a parent or guardian.
