Ada Irene Clarkson 1928 - 2018
Ada Irene Clarkson, late of Stoughton, SK, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, June 18, 2018. Ada was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Doris Rederburg, husbands Earl Richardson (1963), and K.B. Clarkson (2014); brothers: Alfred (Mary), Clifford and Howard Rederburg; brothers-in-law: Norbert Spohn, Harry and Fred Richardson; sister-in-law Merle (Keith) Wadsworth; and granddaughter Marcie Wolfater. Ada is survived by her children: Larry Richardson (Albert Beekman), Victoria, BC, Kaye (Brian) Wolfater, Saskatoon, SK, Daryl (Pam) Richardson, Saskatoon, SK, Eian Richardson, Stoughton, SK; grandchildren: Brent (Tamara) Wolfater, Lee Wolfater, Tara Richardson (Hayden Yip), Drew Richardson (Danielle Altrogge), Julia Raynard (Shawn Tuffnell) and daughter Brielle; great grandchildren: Caera and Cayson Wolfater; sister Marion Spohn; sisters-in-law: Florence and Mary Lynn Rederburg, Mary Richardson. Ada was born April 7, 1928 in Benson, SK. She attended school in Benson, worked in Regina for two years before her marriage to Earl Richardson in 1950. Ada and Earl settled in Stoughton and had four children. After Earl’s passing in 1963, Ada raised her children on her own until she married Bernard Clarkson in 1966. Ada and Bernard were blessed with a partnership which lasted 48 years. Ada was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Royal Canadian Legion, the UCW, and a Sunday School teacher. Ada remained active in her church until the closing months of her life. A Funeral Service for Ada was held Friday, June 22, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from Grace United Church, Stoughton, SK with Reverend Elizabeth Goodson of�iciating. Honorary Pallbearers were all in attendance. Active Pallbearers were: Al Bookman, Brent Wolfater, Lee Wolfater, Drew Richardson, Brian Rederburg and Hayden Yip. Interment was held at Stoughton Cemetery, Stoughton, SK with luncheon following at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 133, Stoughton, SK. For family and friends so wishing, charitable donations in memory of Ada may be made Stoughton Grace United Church, 216 Main Street, Stoughton, SK, S0G 4T0. Arrangements were entrusted to RD Family Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, Weyburn, SK (8480333 ~ 1-888-848-0333). The Alida community extends sincere sympathy to the Ewert family on the sudden death of husband, father and grandfather, Larry Ewert of Redvers (formally of Carnduff) on June 20 at the Galloway Health Centre, at the age of 68. Funeral service was held at Carnduff Legion on June 26 with interment at the Carnduff Cemetery. Memorial donations may be given to the Moose Creek Regional Park, Play Park Project. Dianne Lemieux and Kathy Arthur went to Winnipeg on June 21 to visit their sister Ella Thomson and they returned home on June 25. There was nice crowd that attended the Bridal Shower held June, 24 at the Alida Hall in honor of Tristan Henrion, bride-to-be of Quince Boutin. She received many beautiful and useful gifts. Best wishes as you prepare for your wedding day in October. Tim, Shelly and Ainsley were in Minot on June 25 as Ainsley had a dental appointment. The Alida Swimming Pool opened this past weekend from 1:00 til 8:00 pm and the kids really seemed to enjoy the water. Swimming lessons are scheduled to begin in July. It’s definitely a great pastime for the kids to enjoy and learn to be safe around water at the same time. As of today (Monday) there is only three days left of school and the summer holidays begins on June 28. The local graduation days will be here and these young people will soon be starting out on a new adventure in their life – Congratulations to all graduates. Enjoy your summer vacation time students. It is now officially summer according to the calendar the longest day was on June 21 and that was also the beginning of summer – ENJOY – even if those pesky little mosquitoes are busy buzzing around and making life miserable and uncomfortable to be outside. We have been missing these last rain showers. My rain barrel is just about empty once again. I know some of you folks don’t want any more moisture but my garden could sure use a good gentle soaking again. I was able to get through my garden with my trusty hoe and even if I do say so myself it was looking fairly good, except it does need moisture again (and I’m unable to water it). Hubby even decided to spray around the outside of the garden which took care of those weeds – BUT – the ground drift also took care of my beans and my beautiful tomato plant too, guess it didn’t like where I planted them (ha). Darn, just when there was even a nice tomato forming – oh well – next year. Speaking of forming – I have a nice spaghetti squash coming, but no pumpkins, just lots of flowers. The rest of the garden is slow and noticed that the dear little – no scratch that Big cutworms are sampling some of my little plants – Drat, can never have a critter free garden season. Good luck with your garden. I have an early deadline for the July 6 issue – news goes in on Thursday, June 28 at noon. Then I’ll be back on schedule with news deadline Monday morning (July 9).
