As the title suggests, this is a work with two personalities, a comedic piece of serious music (a serious piece of comedic music). I seek to showcase the impressive power of the trombone while using it as a tool in the construction of an absurdity. There is repetition and there is the unexpected, it's all profound and shallow, or it's profound, or it's shallow. I hope the listener will think about music (the sublime) as play; there's a philosophy in there somewhere I've been trying to find. Maybe you will even think to yourself, "Beauty and the ridiculous are compatible and sometimes complementary." Good, I like that.
