NEW Social Dance Classes

Our Fitness Room recently underwent remodeling. We’ve added new, state-of-the-art equipment for our members.

Join us for this new series of four classes in June designed to teach basic and intermediate patterns of the following dances: West Coast Swing, East Coast Swing, Night Club Two Step, Cha Cha, Waltz and other ballroom dances. No partner required, but bringing one is advisable.

NEW Beginning American Sign Language

NEW Intergenerational Paper Rocket Project

Wednesdays, 10 – 11 a.m., 116 Learn introductions, how to exchange pleasantries, or finish up a conversation. We’ll also take a quick look at fingerspelling. Each weekly class focuses on new, basic subjects that help students learn functional sign language. Come anytime: no class depends on what went on earlier, and all materials are furnished.

Tuesday, Aug. 13, 1 – 2:30 p.m., Pine Avenue Community Center Join the Explorer Campers at the Pine Avenue Community Center to experiment in “Futuristic Fun” and design paper rockets to launch off in Pine Avenue Park. All rocket materials are provided, and the construction and design of the rockets is just as much fun as launching them! The paper rocket project is an exciting, hands-on way to teach STEM concepts and stimulate the brain and spirit as you demonstrate how to make rockets soar! Challenge yourself and the campers in the free activity to make the rockets fly as high and far as possible!

A conversational class for those who already know basic ASL signs. All materials are furnished, and all past materials are available for those who want to brush up. Come have some fun communicating.

NEW Chair Tai Chi Chuan Classes

Tuesdays, starting Aug. 6, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., 107 Chair Tai-Chi has the same benefits as standing Tai-Chi—controlled arm and waist motion, deep and natural breathing, combined with tranquil concentration of the mind stimulates the energetic action of the entire body. Results are improved health, longer life and raising of the spirit. Gentle Chair therapeutic stretches and brief meditation included. Fee for four classes is $29.70R/$33NR.
