Managing Arthritis and Chronic Joint Pain

Organizing Your iPhone Photos (June
18)
Good news for Apple iPhone and iPad users. The built-in Photos App has features for organizing your photos that will amaze you. Our instructor, Mike McMahon, will explain how to take advantage of those features, many of which were changed in the iOS 18 update. He will demonstrate how to customize the Photos App –including how to make it resemble the older Photos App that many of us preferred. You'll learn how to quickly mark and later find your favorite photos in the vast library on your device.
Artificial Intelligence – An Update (June
25)
The field of Artificial Intelligence continues to grow by leaps and bounds. Our instructor, Mike McMahon, first covered the topic in April of 2023 with his class on ChatGPT. It's time for an update on it and the many other versions of AI that are part of our world today. Ai continues to amaze us with its staggering capabilities. It also continues to worry us about its impact on personal privacy, copyright infringement, job replacement, social media discourse, and disinformation campaigns.

We'll cover various scams, including phishing, tech support scams, Medicare and IRS scams, and romance scams. Through real examples, you'll learn to spot red flags like generic greetings, urgent language, and unfamiliar senders.
Sumi-e & Japanese Ink Art

Explore the ancient Japanese brush painting world to express your inner self, in a friendly and relaxing classroom setting. Instructions include stroke demonstration, sumi ink calibration, various painting methods, and special ways of finishing paintings. All skill levels are welcome. Carlsbad Cruisers Walking Club

Ken Sprinkle acoustically performs classic rock and blues favorites covering genres from the '70s to the present along with some original tunes. He has played many venues for years, transposing popular songs made by big-name bands into six-string acoustic arrangements backed up with solid vocals. A mix of equipment is used to provide a solid beat and a dynamic acoustic range to deliver a full sound.

Senior Center Computer Lab Update
The Senior Center Computer Lab will soon switch to the same printing system used at Carlsbad libraries. Printing will remain free, with a 50-page monthly limit automatically loaded to your library card. The new system will include a Print Release Station—more info and instructions will be available later this month. Please see a staff member with questions. Community Garden Club

Work with Master Gardener Jano Nightingale to plant and care for the Senior Center raised bed vegetable garden at the Pine Avenue Community Garden. Plant selection, pruning, fertilization, and organic insect and disease control will be covered. Please bring your own tools if you have them. Registration is required.
Excursion: Museum of Making Music

Discover the fascinating world of music at the Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, where history, innovation, and sound come together in harmony. This engaging excursion includes a docent-led guided tour through exhibits that highlight the evolution of musical instruments, and the people who shaped the industry. After the museum, we will head to the Windmill Food Hall where you’ll have a variety of lunch options to choose from. Lunch is non-host; guests are responsible for purchasing their own meals.
