WELCOME Welcome to Bold North Cellars! We’re thrilled you’ll be joining our team in 2023.

We are Michelle, Tyler (and Jack) Bredeson, owners of Bold North Cellars (and facilitators of great memories)! It is our drive, mission, and vision to create a place of celebration and gathering where everyone feels welcome and leaves with amazing memories. As a Bold North Cellars Employee you are an important part of this, and we can’t wait to see the experience you create and the memories you make. We look forward to meeting you and celebrating life!

WHO WE ARE Bold North Cellars is a family owned and operated destination for connection and celebration in Alexandria, Minnesota. Focusing on sustainable, high-quality, and memorable products and experiences.

Bold North Cellars is home to Carlos Creek Winery, 22 Northmen Brewing Co., Grand Hall event center, Stoke wood-fired pizza kitchen, Sizzle food truck, and the Bold North Trail.

BNC FAQS 1. What food options do you have on property?

We have delicious pizza, pretzels + dips, and other seasonal items (such as soup in the winter) at Stoke Wood-Fired Pizza Kitchen. Our MN Nice Deli in the Carlos Creek Winery Tasting Room has grab and go items such as cheese and crackers, pre-made salads, and other snacks. Our Sizzle Food Truck (open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day) has rotating offerings including handcrafted burgers and homemade chips, beignets, and other items depending on the week!

2. How does this all work?

We have a winery, brewery and pizza kitchen open year round to customers.

Customers are welcome to enjoy wine, beer, and pizza anywhere on the campus grounds. Growlers and cans of beer or hard cider are TO GO only. State law prohibits them to be opened onsite.

3. Is everything on property owned by the same people?

Yes! We are all part of the Bold North Cellars team. BNC consists of the Grand Hall, Carlos Creek Winery, 22 Northmen Brewing Company, and Stoke & Sizzle.

4. What's the Bold North Trail?

The Bold North Trail is brand new in 2023! 3 miles of groomed trail that runs through beautiful vineyard and forest. In the winter months, there are well-maintained crosscountry ski and snowshoe trails here. The trail is free to access, and guests are welcome to bring their own equipment! We also rent snowshoes in our brewery for $5. We plan to have trails available in summer and fall for use as well.

5. How long has all of this been around for?

The winery opened in 1999. Events were started in 2009. The brewery and Stoke Pizza Kitchen opened in June of 2019. Jack's Public House opened the summer of 2020. The Sizzle Food Truck opened the summer of 2021. The banner name “Bold North Cellars” was implemented to encompass all of these entities in 2021. Tyler and Michelle Bredeson purchased Bold North Cellars in 2022.

6. Do you allow pets on property?

Yes. We just ask that pets remains on a leash and that guests utilize our Pet Poo station to clean up after their pets. Only service animals are allowed inside the buildings with a proper harness indicating “service animal”.

WHO WE ARE Carlos Creek Winery is an award-winning winery with a reputation of balanced wines and a fun, inviting atmosphere. The winery has been under Bredeson family ownership since 2008. In 2022, Tyler and Michelle Bredeson (son and daughter-in-law of previous owners Kim and Tami Bredeson) purchased the winery with their own vision. Carlos Creek is determined to continue creating products and experiences that bring people together for celebration and fun. We believe wine should be welcoming, fun, and most importantly really good. Our focus is on quality over profit in all things we do.

WINERY FAQS 1. Do you make all of this wine here?

Yes. All the wine you see here is made in our Production Building at the top of the hill. We use the cold hardy grapes we grow on property and we supplement with grapes from other vineyards across Minnesota. Grapes that cannot be grown here are purchased from Lodi Valley in California ex. Cabernet, Merlot, Chardonnay, Zinfandel, etc.

2. Can we ship wine to customers?

Yes. We can ship wine to 39 states. Customers can order wine online via our website. We use Vinoshipper to ship our wine. Someone 21 or older must be available to sign for the wine upon arrival.

3. Do you sell wine at my local liquor store?

There is an extensive list of liquor stores (by city) that sell our wine that can be found on our website. They may not carry all our wines and they do not carry wines that are exclusive to Carlos Creek Winery. If your liquor store does not have the wine you’d like to have available, just ask them to call our Wholesale Sales department to order it OR order online.

4. What grapes do you grow on property?

We grow Valiant, Frontenac, Frontenac Gris, Crimson Pearl, and King of the North.

5. What's your best selling wine?

Our number one selling wine is our Hot Dish Red. It is an unaged, unoaked, semisweet red. Smooth, bold and fruity.

6. It looks different in here...did you remodel?

Yes! The Tasting Room got a refresh this past winter (2023) with new paint, new lighting and display changes.

7. Is your wine gluten free?

Yes! All of our wine and hard ciders are gluten free.

WHO WE ARE 22 Northmen Brewing Co. is a viking-inspired brewery in the heart of Minnesota Lake Country that was established in 2019. We specialize in craft lagers, barrel aged mixed cultures, and new world IPAs. BEERVENTUROUS is our motto and driving force behind our beers. Our brews are set apart by high-quality ingredients and attention to detail. Brewed slow, brewed hard. The 22 Northmen legend and name come from the Kensington Runestone. A local legend and on-going debate that claims that in 1362 22 Northmen traveled thousands of miles from the land of the Vikings to Alexandria, Minnesota and left behind the famed runestone.

BREWERY FAQS 1. Can we take beer into the winery?

Anything sold on property is welcome to bring across the grounds.

2. Are you family friendly?

Absolutely! To provide a safe and fun experience for all customers, it is our policy to have your children seated at the tables with you at all times, for their safety as well as respect for others' experience.

3. Do you make all of your own beer?

Yes! 4. Do you sell your beer anywhere else?

All beer produced currently stays at Bold North Cellars. We enjoy creating a unique and ever-changing beer menu that is not reliant on meeting wholesale demands.

We offer a selection of off-sale cans in our taproom to take home with you!

5. When is "xyz" beer coming back?

We strive to create a dynamic beer menu. Each beer release is dependent on tank time, and ingredient availability. Our current tap list can always be found on our website.

6. What's that new building next to the taproom building?

Fall 2022 we broke ground on a new beer production facility. Our brewery has grown so much over the past three years and we needed more space to accommodate all of the beer we're crafting. Plus, it gave us room for a canning line to provide off-sale cans in our taproom.

GRAND HALL FAQS 1. Can customers drop-by and get a tour of the event facility?

As much as we LOVE surprises, we require appointments for tours. To book an appointment, email Kasey@carloscreekwinery.com.

2. What sets us apart?

There are many beautiful Minnesota wedding venues. We believe The Grand Hall ranks high on that list due to our mission of ensuring perfection in the couple and guest experience, no hidden fees, and unique inclusions we offer.

3. What's the going rate for a wedding here?

The average wedding costs $23,000 for venue, floral, food, bar, shuttle, timeline creation, etc.

4. How many weddings do we host in a day?

ONE, only one event is scheduled in The Grand Hall a day.

5. Can clients have other beer or wine on their wedding bar?

The Grand Hall provides beer & wine service, serving exclusively Carlos Creek Winery wine and 22 Northmen Brewing Co. beer. There is an option to add a cocktail cart, serving premium liquor beverages.

6. How long has the building been around?

The Grand Hall building was built in 2000 as a horse stable and indoor riding arena. In 2009 we started using the building for weddings. Since then it has undergone multiple renovations, with the latest one in Winter/Spring 2021.

7. What is the capacity for an event?

For a seated event, 350 is our max capacity. For an event with no seating, we can fit 588 people.

8. Is The Grand Hall our only event space?

No. We host events in the Creekside Room, on the Creekside Deck, Winery Production Conference Room and the Brewery Loft as well. All of these locations have different capacities and rental fees.

WHO WE ARE Stoke Wood-Fired Pizza Kitchen is BNC's primary kitchen open year-round. With attention to quality and detail, we hand make our crust using five simple ingredients: water, flour, yeast, salt, and extra virgin olive oil. We primarily make carefully curated pizzas. Sizzle Flat-Top Fare is our seasonal food truck open on summer weekends. Sizzle has a dynamic menu unique from pizza: smash burgers, sandwiches and cold salads are just some of the examples of offers to be found at Sizzle. With the same attention to detail, you can always expect high-end ingredients sourced as locally as possible.

KITCHEN FAQS 1. What temperature is your pizza oven at?

700º-750º.

2. What type of wood do you use?

Oak. 3. Where do you get your wood from?

We utilize several, local sources.

4. How long does it take to cook a pizza?

3-4 minutes.

5. How many pizzas do you make on a busy day?

300-400 on a busy Saturday in the summer.

6. I'm over in the winery, can I bring my food there?

Yes! You can bring beer, wine and food amongst both buildings, out on Jack’s Public House or anywhere else you are seated on the property.

7. Are you owned by the same people that own the winery?

Yes! We are all part of the Bold North Cellars team. BNC consists of the Grand Hall, Carlos Creek Winery, 22 Northmen Brewing Company, and Stoke & Sizzle.

8. How big are your pizza sizes?

Our hand-made crust pizzas are 10". We also offer a 12" gluten-free cauliflower crust.

9. Can we place an order over the phone?

At this time, we are not setup for over the phone orders. You are more than welcome to get your order in to-go boxes but you need to order at the counter.

10. Is the food truck yours?

Yes! Sizzle is part of the BNC team. The kitchen staff work in both the pizza kitchen and in the food truck.

SATURDAY, JUNE 17, 2023 | 12-4PM FESTIVAL: Craft beer experience like no other, showcasing the best summer brews - Lagers! There will also be other varieties of brews including IPAs, sours and more.

INFO + TICKETS: Tickets are $30 Free shuttles will be provided, to Arrowwood & Fairfield Inn & Suites.

Tickets include a tasting glass and unlimited beer sampling from 12pm-4pm.

Other entertainment includes a live DJ, axe throwing, and Food Trucks.

Festival will be rain or shine located to the East of the Wine Production building.

SEPTEMBER 15-17, 2023 Festival with 12 bands on 4 stages, over 150 food, juried art and marketplace vendors, a man cave featuring 22 Northmen Brewing Co. beer, wine tasting, and Grape Stomping!

This year's Saturday Theme is: Lumberjack Free shuttles will be provided on Friday & Saturday to local lodging. Full list on the Grape Stomp website.

Friday & Saturday are 21+ only for attendees. Sunday is all ages.

All drinks are purchased with drink tickets.

The festival has it's own website: ccwgrapestomp.com Attendees save $5 if purchased online instead of at the gate day of.

We'll be donating $1 from every Saturday admission ticket pre-purchased or purchased on-site to a local charity!
