Material Self

The self, according to William James, is all that a person feels to be his or hers, including not only his or her body and belongings, but also his or her reputation and beliefs. As a result, my identity is formed by the things I wear, what I have, our house, cars, pets, and other material things. Taking care of my material things is a good way. But I’ve also realized that it is necessary to have a clear set of priorities. It doesn't matter what I have; I don't need such things to fit in with other materialistic people. Being genuine to myself is the most important thing.
