DEDICACIÓN En primer lugar, agradezco al Señor quien me dio la capacidad, la inteligencia de poder dominar rápidamente cualquier idiomas, especialmente el Inglés.

Agradezco a mi madre, una de las mujeres que más quiero en este mundo. Por su cariño, su amor, y sus grandes manifestaciones de afecto, su constante motivación ayudándome a concluir este libro.

También, hay alguien que ha sido mi gran motivación: Mi querido padre Woody Dessources, si alguno ha de corregirme cariñosamente, para que hoy pueda ver mis progresos en la enseñanza del idioma Inglés, indudablemente ha de ser él, mi tierno amigo.

Sin embargo hay alguien que ha estado jugando un papel importante en mi vida y ella es mi esposa Selenne A. Guzmán de la Rosa, cuya impresionante carrera, me inspiró a creer que yo podría escribir un libro, a quien dedico este libro con mi amor y cariño por su sacrificio y esfuerzo para verme feliz, por creer en mi capacidad, aunque hemos pasado momentos difíciles siempre ha estado brindándome su comprensión, cariño y amor.

A mis hijos, Woodlyne, Kris y Rihanna por ser mi fuente de motivación para poder superarme cada día y así poder luchar para que la vida nos depare un futuro mejor.

En resumen, dedico este libro a mi familia, a mis amigos y a todos aquellos quienes supieron motivarme, pero especialmente a este niño de 5to grado en un colegio donde había trabajado como profesor de idiomas, me pidió que escribiera un libro llamado ¡Aquí está mi guía de Inglés! (HERE’S MY ENGLISH GUIDE!) Pues la idea para este libro de inglés me fue sugerido años atrás por él, sin embargo, con el tiempo, escribí su nombre, y lo guardé en un lugar tan seguro que no he sido capaz de encontrarlo. Cómo aprender a aprender inglés !Hola! Me llamo Carl Dessources. Probablemente estés leyendo este libro en la librería o quizá un amigo o conocido te lo haya pasado. En cualquier caso, me alegro mucho de que estés tomando la decisión para adquirir los conocimientos del inglés en esta primera edición del Book 4 «Here’s my English Guide!». Si mientras lees esta Guía de Inglés y te surge alguna duda o quieres comentarme lo que sea, aunque sea incluso para saludar, no dudes en escribirme un email a khaarl1979@gmail.com .

Déjame que te cuente por qué me ha dado por introducir «Here’s my English Guide!» de esta manera.

Aunque soy joven y nunca dejo de aprender (soy el primero que se equivoca, constantemente), como profesor de inglés tengo la suerte de poder trabajar con personas muy distintas, tanto en empresa, individualmente como en academia,, de niveles iniciales o avanzados, con mayor o menor facilidad para los idiomas. Durante el tiempo que estudié filología inglesa también tuve la oportunidad de estar muy cerca del proceso de aprendizaje de un idioma, empezando por sí mismo como eterno alumno — a base de prueba y error constante — y observando al mismo tiempo a compañeros de clase curso tras curso, alumnos de otras lenguas y estudiantes internacionales. Uno de los años de carrera lo cursé viviendo en Santo Domingo, la Capital de la República Dominicana, lo cual también me sirvió para aprender de los otros extranjeros como yo que estudiaban español como segunda lengua allí.

Gracias a toda esta observación he podido sacar mis propias conclusiones en lo que a aprendizaje del inglés se refiere, basándome en quién acaba hablando el idioma de verdad y quién no.. Ver lo que funciona a algunos y lo que hace a otros tirar el tiempo me ha ayudado a intentar trazar una serie de principios o herramientas básicas para estudiar una segunda lengua. Todos estos principios se basan en el que yo creo que es el único secreto para aprender inglés: tú, el factor humano. Todo el mundo tiene un potencial increíble para aprender inglés, pero no todos lo trabajan o desarrollan igual. No importa el tipo de curso que estudies, la aplicación informática o web que uses, si el profesor es nativo o no. Al final más de la mitad del aprendizaje se reduce a ti y a cómo estudias. Esto es algo en lo que creo y es lo que defiendo como profesor de inglés. Las figuras de una buena escuela, academia o profesor son muy importantes, pero si solo esto fuera suficiente, todos los alumnos hablarían inglés asistiendo a clase únicamente, y la realidad es distinta. Ahí es donde este libro «Here’s my English Guide!» cobra sentido. Esta guía no es más que un esquema de los principios que van a ayudarte a desarrollar al máximo todo ese potencial que tienes, de las herramientas y actitud que puedes usar para cambiar el chip mental y empezar a aprender inglés de la mejor forma posible, tanto fuera como dentro del aula.

Lo que voy a enseñarte no es nada nuevo, especial o mágico, es algo que todo el mundo puede poner en práctica y que todos hacemos o hemos hecho alguna vez a la hora de estudiar cualquier cosa. Lo único que he hecho es dejarlo por escrito, pues a mí me hubiese gustado que me enseñasen algo así cuando empecé a estudiar idiomas en el Colegio. Pues mi intención en esta guía es, guiarte. No es un sistema basado en estudios científicos ni voy a proporcionarte una lista interminable de biografía académica. Me baso en los casos reales que he visto a mi alrededor, en la estadística de alumnos que acaban hablando inglés o aprobando exámenes, en los profesores que tienen buen nivel del idioma extranjero que enseñan o en los que consiguen aprender varios idiomas. Sobre todo me he basado en qué hace o ha hecho toda esa gente para aprender, qué los distingue del resto y qué tienen en común todos ellos. Esos son los principios que quiero compartir contigo. Me hace mucha ilusión aportar algo útil que te ayude a aprender inglés de una vez por todas. Con este libro puedo ayudar aunque sea a una sola persona, el tiempo que he empleado escribiéndolo habrá merecido la pena. Mucho.

Cómo aprender a aprender inglés Así que los principios del libro de inglés «Here’s my English Guide!» están escritos para cualquiera que quiera estudiar o ya estudio inglés, independientemente del nivel o perfil. Tanto si estudias por libre, eres alumno en una academia o si tienes profesor particular, en cualquier caso puedes aprovechar de este libro, aprender quizás algo que no sabías, complementar o encontrar la motivación que necesitas, etc. En especial, si tu nivel es muy básico o si has estudiado inglés antes sin resultado, todos estos principios pueden ayudarte muchísimo, es justo lo que necesitas.

Al mismo tiempo, si eres profesor de inglés o estudiante de filología (de otros idiomas también), este libro esta diseñado también para dar clases. Tal vez encuentres algo que no habías tenido en cuenta o una manera concreta de cogerlo y mejorarlo en el aula. También puedes inculcar estos principios a tus alumnos o si eres profesor nativo, coger algunas de las ideas para motivar a tu clase y evitar que malgasten tiempo luchando contra el inglés. !Pues defenderte en inglés será posible en cuanto termines de estudiar con «Here’s my English Guide!» nivel básico!

Este libro consta de 4 unidades de lecciones de inglés, dividido entre lo que llamo Plan I, II y III por cada unidad. Al final de la última, el alumno encontrará una parte dedicada a una amplia estructura gramatical, vocabulario, conversaciones, expresiones que destaca lo que ya se han visto en las unidades anteriores y una lista de los verbos regulares e irregulares más comunes en inglés. Mi deseo es que todos los que tengan este libro de inglés : «Here’s my English Guide!», podrán disfrutar de su contenido.

Unit 1. ¿Quién soy yo?

Throughout this Unit you will find fun activities that will allow you to practice English, through words and expressions that you can use in specific situations according to the needs and information of your environment. In Plan I, you will ask: Who am I? And you will learn the vocabulary that will allow you to describe yourself and describe other people, both physically and in their way of being, through the use of adjectives.

Then, in Plan II, you will be able to describe your family and their members, as well as the daily activities that each of them performs, so in this way you will make small descriptions about your family.

In Plan III you will know the food and you will be able to tell about what you like or do not like, through expressions and vocabulary of the English language. La pronunciación del inglés es mucho más complicada para aprender que la pronunciación del español. En español hay cinco sonidos de vocal (a, e, i, o, u) mientras en inglés hay más de 20. La pronunciación de la vocal depende de la posición en la palabra y si está combinada con otras vocales. Hay algunas reglas pero desafortunadamente hay muchas excepciones a las reglas. Después de aprender las reglas, puedes aprender, poco a poco, todas las palabras que son excepciones a las reglas.

Present Simple Tense

Se utiliza para expresar rutinas, es decir, actividades que se realizan con cierta frecuencia.

También se utiliza para expresar hechos o verdades generales.

Presente simple (afirmativo) Se utiliza el verbo en infinitivo para formar la forma afirmativa del presente simple (I, you, we, they).

A las terceras personas del singular (he, she, it) se les agrega s o es al final del verbo.

Para decir las horas en punto podemos decir o'clock, que es una contracción antigua que significa 'of the clock' (del reloj). El empleo actual equivale al español 'en punto': Ejemplo: It’s nine o'clock (nueve en punto)

Phrasals Verbs AGREE WITH - estar de acuerdo - "All women are bad drivers." "I don't agree with you."

BE ABOUT TO - estar a punto de -I was about to leave the house when my friends arrived.

BE BACK - regresar -I'm working late at the office tonight so I won't be back until 10.

BE OUT OF - quedarse sin - We're out of eggs so we can't make a tortilla.

BE OVER - terminarse - When the football match was over, we went to the pub.

BE UP - estar levantado - "Phil isn't up yet: he's still in bed. Phone again in ten minutes." BLOW UP - estallar (una bomba) - The bomb blew up killing six people.

BLOW UP - inflar - We blew up at least a hundred balloons for the Christmas party.

BREAK DOWN - averiarse - My car broke down on the way to Motril.

CALL BACK - volver a llamar - "I'm afraid the manager isn't here at the moment. Could you call back later?"

CARRY ON - seguir. continuar - I'm sorry if I interrupted you. Please carry on.

CARRY OUT - cumplir (una promesa) - The President carried out his promise to reduce taxation.

CARRY OUT - llevar a cabo - The execution was carried out at seven o'clock in the morning.

CLEAR UP - poner en orden - It took four hours to clear up after the party.

COME ACROSS - encontrar, dar con - I came across an old friend on the metro in Madrid. COME BACK - regresar - I'm going to England for two weeks. I'm coming back on the fifth. COME IN - entrar - "Good morning. Come in and sit down."

COME ON - ¡Vamos!, ¡Date prisa! - Come on. We're going to be late.

CUT DOWN ON - consumir menos - You must cut down on cholesterol or you'll have a heart attack.

CUT OFF - cortar, desconnectar - When we didn't pay the bill, the electricity was cut off.

CUT UP - cortar en pedazos - We cut up the birthday cake and gave everyone a slice.

DO UP - abrochar, atar - I was five before I knew how to do up my shoelaces.

DO WITH - tener algo que ver con, tener relación con - "What's MS DOS?" "It's got something to do with computers."

DO WITHOUT - pasarse sin, prescindir de - The shops are shut so we'll have to do without sugar.

GET ON - subir (a un autobus, tren, moto) - Quick! Get on the train, it's about to leave.

GET UP - levantarse - When I got up this morning it was still dark.

GIVE BACK - devolver - If you don't like the dress, the shop will give you your money back.

GIVE UP - perder la esperanza, rendirse - If you find phrasal verbs difficult, don't give up.

GIVE UP - dejar (de fumar, beber) - You'll get cancer if you don't give up smoking.

GO AHEAD - ¡Siga! - "Can I use the telephone?" "Yes, go ahead."

GO AWAY - irse, marcharse - Are you going away for Christmas, or are you staying at home.

GO BACK - volver, regresar - Although she's forty, she's going back to University to study French.

GO DOWN - bajar - The price of fruit goes down in the summer.

GO OUT - salir (por la calle) - I always go out and have a few drinks on Saturday night.

GO UP - subir - The price of cigarettes went up in January 1992.

HANG ON/HOLD ON - esperar - Hold on for a minute as Pablo will be back in five minute.

HANG UP - colgar (el teléfono) - My ex-girlfriend hung up when I phoned her.

KEEP UP WITH - mantenerse (a la altura de) - I can't keep up with my father when we go cycling as he goes too fast.

KNOCK DOWN - derribar, atropear, demoler - My grandfather's old house was knocked down and a bank was built.
