Annual General Meeting Our Annual General Meeting will be held via Zoom link this year due to COVID Restrictions.

Residents will be able to view the meeting from the Taronga Dining Room.

The Annual General Meeting will commence at 7.30 PM, Thursday 14th October 2021.

Visiting Hours As Victoria's lock downs continue our restrictions regarding visiting have not changed from a government level. However, Carinya believe it is in the best interest for all residents to have one nominated visitor.

Visitors must NOT be from a lock down zone and are still required to email admin@carinyalodge.com.au for nomination approval.

Visiting hours remain Mon-Fri 8.30 AM - 4.30 PM, excl. public holidays.

Trivia Residents enjoyed their first Trivia afternoon on Sunday 19th September 2021.

We had an amazing turn out, much more than anticipated so rest assure we will be ready for the crowd this month!

Special thanks to Rhonda, Vince, Jennifer and Ann for organising and assisting with this event.

Golf Champion Congratulations to Meg for winning the September Golf Championship!

Like many of our activities they do become quiet competitive and Golf is quite a favourite for the residents.

Volunteering Recently, we have had a very exciting offer!

Sue Whyte a local member of the community has offered to volunteer her time interviewing individual residents/family members (who are interested) with the intention of making some short stories. We may even be able to get together a Carinya book.

Sue has vast experience interviewing people and creating written stories through my past career in universities.

Sue has already started interviewing residents and has more eagerly awaiting their turn.

Farewell With sad news we farewell the lovely Frances Heylen.

Many staff and residents share fond memories of their time with Francie.

You will certainly be missed lovely lady and thank you for all the wonderful days spent together.

COVID Vaccination As many of you may be aware the government has mandated COVID vaccinations for all aged care staff (including Volunteers) from 17th September 2021.

We are happy to say not only has

every staff had their first shot, 82% are fully vaccinated.

Development Unfortunately due to current COVID restrictions and construction shut down our courtyard and completion of our development has been put on hold.

Thank fully this does not impact residents as we are now working on the internal fitout of new offices, staff room, hair dressers and entrance.

Car Park Our new car park is coming! Unfortunately, yet another hiccup has occurred.

Currently we are waiting for new engineering plans that will avoid existing services which were located during the excavation process.

So hopefully before long we will have ample space for visitor parking.

Retirement Village Maintenance Thank you all for following the new procedure when requiring maintenance assistance.

Completing the maintenance request form and submitting it to Lyn or the office helps us prioritise, record and ensure requests are being attended to. There still may be delays due to spare parts, or Covid restrictions.

Maintenance requests should be restricted to essential repairs at this stage.

Retirement Village Survey Congratulations to everyone that participated and completed the resident survey. Your feedback is valued and the results are now with the committee for consideration, a chart of the results is below.

In regards to some of your suggestions, I want nothing more than to be able to have gatherings, morning teas, activities, outings get togethers even a cuppa at your place. However due to the Covid restrictions, as its an order from the government, none of these events are able to take place. Fines for breaking covid rules are on the spot for individuals $1817 and for companies $10,904 for each rule broken. I am as frustrated with these restrictions as you.

With the governments road map out of restrictions, I feel its not far away before we will be able to start activities. As much as these restrictions are impacting on our social life, we have been kept safe.

Now to the results, one of the highest numbers of first preference was other, which most of these were for a BBQ-area/rotunda.
